Wonder if anyone could give me a few hooping tips on the Babylock Ellageo. Seems that my designs pucker just a little and roll up after washing them. I am using two layers on bottom and one on top of the water soluble stabilizer. Especially on towels (terrycloth). Any advice would be appreciated. Maybe it is me!!! Happy holidays. |

I think you may be over stabalizing. I use either a tear a way on the bottom and water soluable on top or water one on top and bottom. When you hoop things you shouldn't have to turn the screw more than four times to get a good fit. |

I don't hoop. I hoop the bottom stabilizer. Use spray adhensive. Put towel or whatever on top, put top stabilizer on.

Be sure that you pin or machine baste your fabric well. The design causes the material to draw. If it is secured to the hoop, it will not draw nearly as much. Because of the amount of tork on my machine, it is suggested that I use two layers (always) on the bottom. I was having a lot of problems with my outlines (final color) being off and my bobbin threads showing (some) until I started following those directions.

Be sure that you wash your towels before you begin. Cotton based towels tend to shrink and that will deform your pattern sometimes if they are washed for the first time after they are embellished.

I have tried almost all of these techniques in one way or another. I have tried the wash away stabalizer hooped w/ adhesive. I have tried one layer, two layers on the bottom and on top. My outline stitching at the end seems to be off. I have basted, but have not tried pinning. Could you explain a little more about how you do this. I am so frustrated, because everything looks good until the outline. It is frustrating that the instructions aren't more user friendly and have examples. I appreciate all the help and I will try these tips. P.S. What brands of stabalizers and thread brand/weights do you all use? Thank you! |
