What is the most accurate way to make half-square triangles and have them come out the right size. I find the best way is to sew two squares together and draw a line from one corner to the other, sew 1/4 inch away from the line and cut on the line but it frustrates me that I cannot sew two triangles together and come out with the same thing. Thats how I have done it. I have just discovered the thangles for this. They come in different sizes and are easy. I also use the angler 2. This works good too.

The trouble with sewing two triangles together is that the angles are on the bias and it stretches out of shape so easily when sewing. Best to do what you described. I also make my squares a bit larger then I have to so I can square them up after - I learned this from watching Eleanor Burns.
