A while back, I saw free instructions for a dog coat made from polar fleece. Now I can't remember where I saw them. Anyone know where I might find something like that? Or know a simple way to make one without buying a pattern? No time to go to Hancock's anytime soon. The dog needs a new coat from this bright red fleece I have. |

The poor baby has nothing to wear. This is her first winter. We've had a few cold days and she shivered when she went outside. We're taking her to my parent's house with us for Christmas so I thought I'd try making her a coat to wear. I've been looking at pictures of them. Maybe I can make a pattern. I'm thinking I'll use snaps since she would be out of one with velcro closures in no time. |

Any chance of hanging the fleece over the dog and hastily scrawling all over it with chalk to work out where to go with necklines and so on? Or is she squirmier than a two year old? http://sewing.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=sewing&zu=http://www.bark.addr.com/pat/hood/hoodpat.html has a pattern for a greyhound but it is based on measurments so you should be able to adapt it to your pooch. love and kisses, Jan

Thanks ladies!! I think I can do it. The pup thanks you too. Imagine her in a little red coat when she walks in to see my mom's 3 rat terriers. (Her own mom, dad, & brother ) And yes, she is as squirmy as a 2 year old. I think she has springs in her back legs. |

I finished the little coat doggy coat. She is too cute in it. My DD suggested the dog have a boa too, since we've been making fleece boas all week. I made a tiny one attached to the collar. Maybe she'll get another one after Christmas. |

Simplicity 4801 has a cute little doggie coat in several sizes and it has a hood. I made one for my dog and she looks so cute in it. There are several other things on this pattern for fleece, vests, mittens, hats and scarf (for people) and a little dog pillow. |
