Hi I was just wondering if i can machine embroider on fleece...i remember reading somewhere that making tight stitches like in machine embroidery would spoil the knit in it...my daughter loves Pooh and i want to embellish one of her fleece jackets with it...any help would be greatly appreciated sirees |

I do a lot of fleece blankets for my friends and like to embroider names and simple designs...Try not to use too dense of a design because I find that it will pucker.... I don't know how you embroider (I'm assuming that this is machine embroidery??) but I use the hoopless method...I hoop a water soluable stabilizer..my favorite is aqua magic...draw horizontal and vertical lines on the stabilizer...spray the stabilizer (NOT the fabric) with spray adhesive like 505...Place fabric on hoop and top either with watersoluble or tulle.... Some people like to secure the material with basting stitches or carefully placed pins...I don't find that I need it...Good luck.. |

My daughter loves her embroidered fleece clothing. One of her favorite fleece outfits is a purple pj set including a zip front jacket with cuffs and hood that has neon music prints on it. I have her first name running down one sleeve and her last name on the other in bright neon green. Across the butt there is a two inch "DRUM MAJOR" arch with the school name running down one leg (side) in two inch letters and her flute is embroidered on the front thigh in silver Yenmet. I did this last year. I did the embroidery before I assembled the outfit and it has held up very well. I used Badgemaster for a stablilizer and it (of course) washed out ages ago. The outfit is worn all the time and it has stood up well.

Don't forget to use the water soluble stabilizer on the top to keep the fleece from poking through your design. Dawn |
