I have never made a poncho in all of my years (70) and now I am making seven. All are fleece and they are so cute. My dilemma is cutting the fringe at the corners. Could somone please help me with this? I end up with a square at the corners and can't seem to figure out what to do with it. Guess I shouldn't try to teach this old dog new tricks, huh? Thank you. Hi Clara, How wide are the fringes, and how wide is the square at the corners? I am guessing that you want one fringe to hang directly from the corner. Is that correct? Take care,

dMoses....Thank you for your reply. The fringe is 1/4" with a 2 x 2" square. Now that you mention 1 fringe hanging from the corner, I am seeing 2 triangles on either side that can be cut off. Is that how it done???? Thank you Clara Luv2sew

Hi Clara, I was trying to visualize the problem, but I'm not sure what the solution would be. I'm sure someone here will be able to help. Take care,

On the fringed blankets you square the corners off. Just cut a square out of that area and fringe the straight sides. Maybe it would work on a poncho too. |

Donna, I have waited to hear from you before making the last cuts and I know it is hard to know what is happening w/o seeing it. I think I will do as I mentioned and see what happens. I have cut all the fringe up to within 1/4" of each corner which left a 2" square. If I cut a triangle off each side of each square, leaving 1/4" fringe in the center, it may work. I could not see this until after I read your email so thank you for helping me see it that way. Maybe, one is not too old to learn a new trick after all ........ I haven't sewn in so long it is like starting all over again. I have different machines now too, so having to learn them as well. Thank you again. Clara Luv2sew

Bama....thank you for your reply. Guess I was typing when your message came in. I thought about doing that but didn't know if it was the right thing to do. I have gotten some good advice from this forum and felt someone had done it before and could tell me how. Thank you so very much. Clara Luv2sew
