I have a White 2037 - which has been pretty trouble-free till now. Now the top thread looks great but the bottom thread is a tangled mess. The book says the bobbin tension is preadjusted. So now what do I do? <email address removed for privacy> |

oh oh oh let me answer this one... I brought a brand new machine because mine was doing this and then checked the board the next day and the ladies here answered my question... My problem too was the bobin tension... here is the website to show you how to tighten it http://www.sewnews.com/library/sewnews/qa/aaqa0703a.htm scroll down until you see the picture of the tension screw hope this helps Jada |

When your thread tangles like that it is usually because the hook is picking up the ends of another thread some place. Since you have sewn for a while, I imagine that you know to pull your threads out of the way when you sew and to make sure that there are no "tails" of thread from when you wound your bobbin. If your bobbin is wound smoothly and evenly and your top threads are in the guides correctly (including the top tension) and your bobbin is not backwards in the bobbin case then I would expect there is a strong possiblity that there is a thread someplace in the bobbin area that may be caught and it is trying to pick that thread up.

Sometimes when your bobbin thread is a nest then your top tension has been slightly altered. I would clean out the machine, change the needle and make sure that all little threads and lint have been removed. Do some test stitches, adjusting your top tension ever so slightly until you have a balanced stitch. Vibration from your machine can cause your top tension to move ever so slightly and then one can have a thread nest underneath. Happy Stitching! Marty It takes one moment to change a life.
