We just had about 30 carollers come to the door and sing for us. It was super wonderful. They sang hymns and holiday songs then just disappeared. We loved it. How long has it been since you had this happen?

My kids are going carroling tomorrow night with a church youth group. They only go to the elderly peoples homes. They deliver fruit baskets and sing to them.

I haven't seen a caroller since I was a kid in N.M......(1966) I didn't know people still did stuff like that with all the guns and violence around...

I don't know about where you live Chrys but here in Oklahoma, people are really getting sick and tired of living their lives around the minority of people who have nothing better to do than constantly wreak violence and fear on other people and they're beginning to fight back and are getting a little more free about planning carrolling groups, etc.

We have teenagers who come round and sing one chorous of "We wish you a merry Christmas" and stick their hands out.
This year two lads sang 1 verse of this followed by starting up "Jingle Bells" at which point I interupted them and asked for some songs with Christian content, that being the point of the season. They ummed and ahhed. They ahhed and ummed. When the silence was getting embarassing I said
"lucked out boys, never mind" and went to close the door. One of them was so cross he punched the brickwork. I don't do on the door blackmail.
(probably the same reason why I hate Halloween - the spirit of give me something nice or I do something nasty to you is classed as blackmail and round her we are required to call the police if we get bothered)

Having said all that, I love carols and have been carolling many times myself - we used to take small bags of cakes and hand them to people when they answered the door.
love and kisses, Jan

There were some ladies from our church that would hire out for carolling. The money they received went for charity. You would give them a name of a person you would like them to go and visit. Usually they went to the elderly. It went really well for a few yrs. Haven't heard about it this yr though.
