I am trying to find the method for quilt tying that leaves the ends inside, and makes it almost invisible. Is anyone out there able to help me? |

The only thing I can think of that you are referring to is called tacking. You just tack with your sewing machine. Put your machine to the longest stitch setting and drop your feed dogs. Let your machine sew in one place about 8 times or more. |

So glad this topic came up. I'm working on a king size quilt for myself. First quilt I've made for myself. I just don't have the set up to machine quilt a king size and been thinking of tying the quilt but didn't want the threads either. Now I can't wait to quilt this purple & yellow quilt.

I saw Nancy Smith and Lynda Milligan ?? on Simply Quilts demonstrate how to tye a quilt and not have to clip all the threads in between - just run your thread in between the quilt layers like you would if you were quilting by hand and traveling from one area to another. Leaves the threads inside the quilt and no need to clip as it is in the batting layer. Still stitching the layers as you normally would in doing a tack stitch but then going back down between and coming back up where you want to tack again. I like machine tacking with a decorative heart stitch and my new machine also has a snowflake design that is nice. |
