I'm doing a happy dance :dave: Santa arrived this afternoon and brought me an embroidery machine (Singer CE 100 Futura). I haven't hooked it to the computer yet to try it out. I'm still reading.

Congratulations and Merry early Christmas! I'm very envious :re:

Santa's broke this year. I've done a lot of handmade presents. I'm just putting the finishing touches on some baskets I put together with some maple orange walnuts, two kinds of bread, apple jelly, and a few other little things.

Everyone have a great holiday!

I'm lovin it girls!!! It's not the most expensive embroidery machine on the market, but it's all I need to play with. Right now, i'm stitchin' the cutest Santa. However, yesterday evening when DH was checking my computer to see if he needed to upgrade it before he loaded the machine software, the computer crashed. Apparently I had picked up a virus before he loaded my lates virus protector and the virus destroyed my CD read write software and corrupted the enitre disk. He replaced the mother board and almost everything in my computer and then discovered that the CD I had is not compatible with Windows XP. Anyway, the long and the short is that I not only got a new embroidery machine, I now have a new computer and on Sunday, he will purchase and install a dvd player in my computer since part of the software that came with the embroidery machine is on DVD. He seems to be happier than I am that I have the new machine to play with. He keeps coming into my seiwng room and watching it and saying how neat it is. Guess I'll have to do him a couple of nifty sweatshirts very first off.

Patsy,
How exciting that Santa brought you such a wonderful gift AND now you can repay Santa with all those sweatshirt. I could feel your excitement. Keep us posted on all the fun you are having. Santa didn't bring any sewing or quilting things this year but he did bring diamonds and sapphires AND now he is in the kitchen cooking Christmas dinner. Can't beat that.

Ok girls. I didn't get any sewing stuff. But I got stuff for my next best hobby. Drag Racing. I don't race but love to watch, especially the John Force Team. I got 4 pistols (one for each driver), pistol rod from John's car all signed and a megneedle cover signed by Jonh. Just had to share with everyone.

Caroline - I didn't get anything sewing related either, got stuff for my next best hobby too! Hubby gave me a chrome battery and oil pan cover for my Harley. Also got a leather vest and chaps. Now if the rain would stop, we'd get out riding!
Patsy - Congratulations on your new machine. I'm sure you will become addicted to embroidering, just let me, in no time!

Wow Patsy. A new computer and a new sewing machine. I got the sewing machine but my computer in the sewing room as slow as it is, Windows 98, will have to do me for now. My hubby knows zilch about a computer and even less about the sewing machine. :re: My new one is the singer and I love it. Mine is the Singer XL 6000. I did sweats for everyone on my list and they loved them. Especially the kids I did them all some with their favorite cartoon characters.

Does anyone know where I can get a pic digitized of a car? I don't mind paying good money for it as long as it's a good job they do. I'm looking to get his old car digitized for a jacket back. HE's really be surprised if I got that done for him.

All you ladies must have been really good this year, Santa took good care of you. :bg:

Sewing items under the tree were some Schmetz needles and a teflon pressing cloth from my SIL and Gutterman thread from my mom. DH and DD gave me a diamond dinner ring and an ametheyst ring. They were able to keep it a secret plus DH replaced the missing stones from 2 other rings I have. He had inherited some jewelry and had the stones put in settings that he thought I would like. He's a keeper.
Happy Stitching!

Marty sounds like you had a really nice Christmas. From the sounds of the gifts received by everyone so far, I would say we each have a "keeper".

Hey there Mother in Law -- saw your post. I have a friend who does digitizing. In fact, she just did a superb job for me. She is quite reasonable (but not free) so if you're interested, let me know and I can put you two in touch with each other.

Susie didn't you just buy the XL 6000? DH bought me the Fuitura and we purchased the Auto Punch Digitizing software to use with it for $150. Isn't there digitizing software that goes with the XL 6000? I also got a CD with 3900 designs on it and one of the sections on that CD is cars of all kinds, antique and otherwise.

Hey Patsy,
Yes I did just get the XL6000 but my software was delayed getting here. I'm waiting on that to come. I have the PSW software but it looks complicated. Let me know about the auto punch software if it's easy. I know you have to start with a clean pic. Not a lot of detail that runs together. Closed lines and sections make a good design. I have lots of car designs but I want his actual car digitized. It mean something to him that it's the actual car he has. He built it himself. If I knew how to make a pic smaller I'd post it on here so you could see what I'm talking about. It's very pretty and special to both of us. I'm going to try and do it myself and see what I can do. HE's so good to me I'd love to surprise him with his car. Let me know about that software. How do you like your machine? I love mine. It is a dream machine.

So far Susie I think this little Futura is a really cool machine. I've had no problem learning, the tutorials are really good, The complaints I've read so far from other people on other boards sound as though they haven't bothered to read the tutorials that come with the machine. I haven' loaded the Auto Punch software yet but according to the lady who owns the Singer shop that I purchased it from says the software is really easy. Doe the XL 6000 come with CDs/DVDs as tutorials? If so, take the time to sit down in front of your machine and watch and listen to them.

Patsy,
It did come with tutorial DVD and I did watch it but I didn't get all the things with mine that were suppose to come with it. I went to a seminar in Oct and we used these machines in that seminar and that's where I first saw the machine. Then they gave us a package deal we couldn't refuse which was a real bargain, 3999.00 for the machine, the PSW 2.0 software which is sold for 1000.00, 3900 designs, the workbook, 1500 cross stitch designs, 1800 Floriani designs, a Disney applique station, a Sulky starter kit with needles, thread and stablizers, and 5 year extended warranty on labor. I didn't get the designs or the workbook yet as they were on back order but I got everything else. I'm still experimenting with the machine I got it in mid Dec but had so many sweatshirts to finish for Christmas I didn't have time to do anything with the digitizing part of the software. I did play with it last night but I got sleepy and retired for the night. When I get the workbook I guess I'll play some more with it.
