Okay ladies be truthful. ROFL How much weight did you gain this holiday season? I weigh in tomorrow and I just know I will gain for the first time since Oct and before that May. I had fudge, fudge and more fudge. I made that my evil indulgence this year. Boy did I indulge. It was back to baked chicken and baked potato's for me today. LOL Actually it was more like chicken noodle soup and a reduced calorie grilled cheese sandwich. I've come too far to go back now. All total I've lost 45 pounds since May, so my New Years Resolution is going to be stick to the program for life. It feels good to be able to breath without making noises. LOL

Now what is your resolutions going to be. LOL

I feel your pain! I lost 40 lbs three years ago and have managed to keep it off till now. I am a stress eater and my husband developed some serious health issues. We got all the test results the Monday after Thanksgiving and it has been non stop doctors. Well, that means I just walk around eating and eating some more. Mostly cookies! I have gained 12 lbs. and I have made my resolution to lose the 12 lbs.! It is hard isn't it? I love my cookies! The only way for me to lose it is low carb. How did you do it? Any tips?

Hey Stitch, I quit smoking 3 years ago and I put on a few pounds thinking I'd get them off, then I put on some more and said One day I will get them off, until it was almost 3 years quitting and I had gained 45 pounds. I didn't need to gain any because I'm only 5 foot and at the time I was at my peak of the weight climb I weighed 212 pounds. Well I got really discussed because I'm like you I eat when stressed and that's my life history is to be stressed out all the time about one thing or another............ by elderly dying parents, kids breaking up with their spouses and so on. But I had to make up my mind that I didn't want to die of obesity so I went to weight watchers and found out I can have just about anything I wanted I just had to limit myself to smaller portions and stay away from the bags of cookies which I love also and candy, another one of my down falls.

I'm sorry to hear about your Husband. During the holidays I made it just fine until I made the fudge. That was the clincher. I finally gave the rest of what was left over from Christmas to my son to take to his house last night. It's finally out the house and now I don't crave it. I was like you when it came to cookies. I'd eat the whole bag of chocolate chip cookies with a glass of milk to wash it down. After a while on Weight Watchers you start to feel good about yourself and really don't care about eating all the things you use to crave. You just want to lose and feel and look good. Everyone started seeing me after the weight loss and told me "WOW you really lost a lot of weight, " That made me really want to stick to it even more." I lost 10 inches in my hips and 8 inches in my waist and another 3 inches in my arms. I'm still not small but I feel 200% better at 166.

Hang in there you can do it. Just go to the first meeting and keep going back it works. You can have cookies you just have to count your points and when you get to the end of the points you can take in a days time, think..........I can have more tomorrow. LOL It's works. Good Luck and keep in touch with me and if you have any questions just ask. I'm always around here lurking somewhere. LOL Hugs to you Susie

You have done just great! My husband stopped smoking 16 years ago when we got married. Then two years ago he picked up cigars. Yuck. He quit last Sunday. They found a tumor in each lung...not from smoking but from exposure to asbestos. We are waiting to do a PET scan the 29th to verify it is asbestos damage. He did a needle biopsy and it came back negative, but the surgeons and the lung specialist don't trust it. Monday they are doing an arteriogram on his legs and putting in stints. Hopefully that will work, otherwise he will need bypass surgery. He has major blockage in both legs from a previous surgery. All of this came out of the blue and really knocked us for a loop. When all of this is done he has to go back for hernia surgery. Poor man sat down one day and fell apart on me! Now you know why I started eating cookies again. But, I am done. Not buying and not baking anymore. Holidays are over for me!

Oh my, he will be in our prayers. My hubby worked on asbesto's roofs and I often wonder if he has lung damage but his is not helped if they are by the 4 or 5 packs of cigarettes a day he smokes. He lights one of the other when he's not in the house watching tv. I won't let him smoke in the house since I quit so that's a good thing, slows him down.

Let us know how he does and good for you throwing all that out of the house. If it's not there you can't get tempted. I buy him things for him to eat but I buy the things I don't care for so it's not so tempting. I must say it's getting harder every week to stay on course but the meetings do help.

I did pretty well thru the holiday with food until I opened one of hubby's gifts. A huge can of Poppycock. Caramel popcorn with almonds. I practically ate the entire thing myself. But, no baked goods or sweets other than that.

I am wearing clothes I haven't been able to get on in a couple of years so that is good.

I haven't thought of resolutions yet. Maybe treating myself more often should be one. LOL. :bg:

I have decided I need to keep myself busy so I will stop eating. I made the same amount of snacks that I usually do but forgot we wouldn't be going to spend the day with my family (We celebrated early on Dec. 11th). We got a lot of new movies, DVDs for Christmas it is so easy to eat while watching without even thinking. I moved it all back into the kitchen so it takes more thought to eat. I am going to sew & pay bills today to keep me away from it. I have lost about 10 lbs. since I started working in Sept. but since I am off for 2 weeks I am back to my old habits of grazing. I did take some caramel corn, Chex Mix, & Puppy Chow (Chex Muddy Buddies) to the neighbors. The kids will all be back for New Years to eat what's left. Then back to work on the 3rd.
My real New Years resolution is to get all of my photos sorted & in order. (This may have to wait until summer when I have time off but I am going to try). Also to stop impulse buying. I am really bad about if it is on clearance for more than 50% off & it fits someone I need to buy it even if our closets are so full we can't get any more in. I am really tired of having garage sales & selling clothes with the tags still on.

Here is the only New Year Resolution I have ever been able to keep:
Not to make any more New Year Resolutions!

Seriously, I find it much better to list goals instead... and break each one down to much smaller sub-goals which I check off (with date) when I have completed it.
The more I achieve, the more motivated I become to achieve more. :bluewink:
...and then my heart with pleasure fills,
and dances with the daffodils.
