I bought "the dress" but i am an artist and i'm all about bright and vivid color in my life. I love dark jewel tones and would love to "ADD" them to my dress. The dress has embroidery on it. i believe it could be a a fairly simple task just time consuming. Could anyone give me any tips on how i can color in the embroidery myself and have it go right so i dont have to shell out another $600, and could any of you give me the types of coloring i can use i.e pastel chalks and a sealer or dye that wont run onto the diamond white satin??? Thank you all so much for your time.

If you cannot do it with a needle and thread, just forget it.. You are living dangerously ! ! Too much money involved to mess with.. Try it on scraps first, or Do not do it at all..

I agree with Leapfrog libby but if you are determined to do this Nancy's Notions sells fabric pens online, but be very careful as this is permanent ink and you are STUCK WITH IT!! if you make a boo boo. ps it will likely run!

what about adding beads or precoloured applicque (can't spell today)

Well, there are fabric paints, I think they are an acrylic paint. But, if you want a guarantee that all will go well and you won't ruin the dress...sorry, cant do that!
I've never used paints on satin, so I can't even say they won't run. And they will stiffen the fabric somewhat.

A jewelled, beaded, or colored applique might work. And if you hate it, it can come off, though there may be some needle holes in the satin, if there is already embroidery there, it probably won't show much.

Or, if you're really adventurous, sell this never-worn dress and buy a colored one.

Scatter silk flowers flowers over the dress. I don't think Pigma permanent color pens would run. I use them in designing and calligraphy all the time. MariLynntx
