I need help! I want to make a golf type knit sport shirt but do not remember how to make the button placket. I use Dress Shop 6.04 pro software to print custom patterns but I didn't find directions for this particular closure. Thanks in advance for your help.

Ya sure ya wanna do that, huh? Well, the shirt will be cut out like a box. You need to determine the size of that you will remove and allow for seam allowances. Then you reinforce the corners and clip the corners of the shirt for turning. The inset is the width of your shirt's box plus seam allowance...doubled. You have two of those for the placket. The length and depth is determined by the amount of space you take out of your shirt. If you don't have a pattern, use another shirt to determine your placket size. You simply fold each of the placket pieces in half. Lap the placket pieces at the bottom, each side overlapping just to the seam allowance on the other side and baste the two pieces together at the bottom. Then I usually place the bottom of the placket first (I just think it is easier) and center it in place on the shirt and sew from corner to corner. Once it is sewn in place at the bottom , turn each side so that you can attach the sides sewing up the placket sides from the bottom to the top being careful not to catch the opposite side's opening in the placket seam as you go. I sew from the bottom up to avoid pucker at the bottom...(so that if the shirt should be "off" just a little bit, it won't pucker in the bottom corners).
