I want to add a skirt to a onesie or Tshirt for my granddaughter but can't remember how to do it as my daughter is now 23 and it's been many years since I've made these. Does anyone know how?
Thanks!

I know how but can't explain it now. Too many other things going through my head. I will be back on tomorrow and take a stab at explaining it if no one else has.

Ok. I looked through my Kwik Sew for Baby book to see how it is done and low and behold this was an idea that I came up with on my own. So I'll have to tell you what I think I did. I cut the onsie pattern at the waist or wherever you want the skirt to begin. So you have a t-shirt and panties basically. Don't forget to add a seam allowance the the bottom of the shirt and top of the panties. Then I cut the skirt. Cut two pieces Width Small-18" Medium-19" Large-20" XL-21". Length is a personaly preference.

Next I assemble everything as individual things, Shirt, skirt, and panties. Leave the top of the panties and skirt and the bottom of the shirt unfinished. Do you know how to add a gathered skirt to a dress? If not let me know and I'll explain that too. Then you join all three unfinished edges together, the gathered skirt sandwiched between the shirt and panties. and voila you are done.
I will now tell you what I tell everyone. If you are going to be sewing for little ones I highly suggest you purchase the Kwik Sew pattern books. The Even if you use other patterns to sew the clothing, the design changes and suggestions can be applied to anything you sew.
