I have a Janome sewing machine that will do embroidery and I have purchased a large amount of Jef designs. Does anyone know how I can open these to view to see more detail. The display panel on the machine does not show any detail.

Dianne, your question would be better answered on the Machine Embroidery forum. Here is the link for you

You are welcome. You might want to try www.embird.com there is a free trial version so that you can view your files. There are other things out there but sorry I am not familar with them. I use PE Design and embird.

Thank you again - I have just found Embird and downloaded a demo copy. It does just what I want it to do. Unfortunately it only lasts 30 days and is then $99 to purchase which is a bit expensive. Thanks for the very quick replies - brilliant

Yes the embroidery hobby can become expensive. You have a very nice machine so may be worth it to add something for software so that you can use it to the fullest. I will see if I can find out more info for other prorgrams for you. :bluesmile

You are quite right - after the expense of the machine I suppose $99 is nothing and I am sure is worth it. It just seems at the moment there is more and more outlay with threads, stabilizers etc to get going. I am sure that when funds recover a bit after the Christmas blitz I will go ahead. This is my first venture into this area and the first time I have joined a forum. Your replies are very welcome and I am sure I will visit here many times in the future for help- and advice. Thanks Di

Dianne,,, I usually do my downloads from the Embird.com site, but then pay for the registration through the Secrets of site.... for some reason I often have trouble with the downloads from the secrets of site, but their registration is a little cheaper, and you don't have to pay for the registration from the same site you download from....

another Embird Fan here..., wouldn't be without it!!

just my 2 cents...

Thank you for that advice. I am also impressed with Embird and I am sure that I am going to need it so it looks as though I shall pay for the registration and be able to continue to use it. I am a complete beginner as far as machine embroidery is concerned and all the advice and tips I am finding here are invaluable. I think this will be a regular site to visit whenever in trouble - and I am sure there will be plenty of times I Am in trouble. Thank you. :re:
