It's been a while since we have posted this and there are a lot of new and interesting names. So tell us what's the secret behind your nickname?
Mine is rather boring. I grew up with my brothers calling me Pudge and when I began playing softball I took that as my name on my shirt follwed by the #99. Since then whenever I need a nickname I use that.

Well I have had several over the yrs but the one Mary uses on the forum here for me is "Crazy Lady"....now I must tell you what happened with that name, of course Mary thinks it is funny beyond belief.

She sent me something awhile back through snail mail and addressed it "Crazy Lady" with my address. I had to go to the Post Office to pick it up and as I am approaching the counter (guy knows me) yells, "YOU CRAZY LADY?" well I just about died....had to reply "well most people think so"

I still laugh when I think about this. Thanks Mary :whacky:

Mine comes from two things. One, I collect pigs. I have about 1500 right now and love every one of them. Second, My husband has a Harley that we love to ride and take trips on. His name is Pigrider.

I've got 2 nicknames 1..Sunshine & 2..Ladybug that my DH tagged me with years ago. When I tried to sign up here was told those names were taken so, I came up with beach girl because we used to be on the beach every chance we got plus I'm in Fl. Haven't seen anyone post with the names Lady Bug or Sunshine but guess they are out there somewhere & I was too late. Theresa

Theresa, there are almost 8,000 people registered with these sort of names on the Sew Whats New boards. Only a tiny fraction of them post on the boards. :dave:

My nickname is my initials "plr" plus the fact that my husband refers to me as a "legal beagle." I've worked in the legal field as a legal secretary/legal assistant for 30+ years, thus "plrlegal". LegalBeagle was also taken when I logged on to the internet approximately 10 years ago.

When I first started using an online name, everything I thought of was used and I didn't want to add a lot of numbers. I picked up a dictionary and began looking at the variations/origins of words that "described" me. sIwian is Old English for sew. When I tried using it, no one else had it.

Well, no one has ever called me Elizabeth. It has always been Lib or Libby, and I wanted to add something so, since I collect frogs I put Leap Frog in front of it..Started collecting frogs because at the beach Ds wanted to bring all the tree frogs he caught into the house, and I said NO!! So, I bought him a little figurine and he said for me to keep it and all of a sudden all the neighbors started buying me frogs..I have about 200 now..lots of jewelry pins that I love..

Mary, no wonder I couldn't use either of those names, duh :re: Oh well, I'm used to it now besides, most think I'm some young beach bunny & not a Grandmother with 10 grands. That's ok because I still act & think I'm in my 20's. Please don't bust my bubble Mary, I'm happy this way. :nc: Theresa

I'm a passionate quilter. Quilty is just the shortened form of my longer internet name, Quiltykiwi, which I use on some other forums.
I also have a signature in which it is written upside down.
That's because I am known as "an upside down person from Down Under" and some of the Northern Hemisphere types I know like to imagine me hanging by little bat feet to the under-belly of the planet. :bluewink:

But whether it is written upside down or not, Quilty just seems to suit me.
Even my bank manager calls me that now!
(I accidently sent him an email from my quilty username account, and he has been teasing me ever since.)

Hey Heartland,

Where in Iowa? My husband rides RAGBRAI. I have family all over that beautiful state. If my kids asthma could survive the winters I would move there.

Gina,

I live between Denison (home of Donna Reed) and Carroll. Do you have family in this area?

RAGBRAI has rolled past my house several times. It has put Iowa on the map.

Heartland,
Got family all around you, to the northwest in Cherokee, south to Adair, Casey, Anita & Atlantic. I am sure I have heard them talk about going to Carroll to get stuff. It always confuses me 'cause my cousin's mom's name is Carol. So if I am not paying full attention I don't know if they are going to Carroll or going to see Carol.

giggleshpd,
RAGBRAI ended in Clinton last summer. I had a heck of a time finding my husband, I had never been there before. I grew up just south of there in Moline IL.

Mommydionne is kinda self explanatory but I like it b/c it reminds me of when I went from being just Jeanette to Adrian's mom (which is how your kids friends will address you :re: ) that was a little dull so I also got as Joelle's mom, Luke's mom and when Jamie has friends who can talk Jamie's mom :bg: .
beats Mrs. Dionne that's my mother in law!! :bluewink:

My love of sewing unusual stuff. I wanted to be named for a furry creature whose fur is harvested that I would never actually use. I have sewn possum fur, but you don't get sable here in New Zealand. Possums are considered a pest in this country and are not farmed, same goes for rabbits. I could have chosen either of those I guess, but I didn't want something common in my home country.
Hope no-one has problems with the whole fur issue. I don't agree with farming animals specifically for fur, or using the fur from endangered animals. But have no problem with fur being used from pest control, or hides from meat animals.

I selected MyGirlFriday about 4 years ago...
I was playing on one of those game sites...like pogo or a free for fun bingo site, it was late one Friday night, and I needed a screen name.
It has since stuck with me......almost every place I go online this is what I go by.
If you have ever been on CraftersCommunity.com you have probably seen my name...I moderate several online craft boards there.

Mine came from my DIL or I should say all my ex DIL's. They all call me Mother In Law even though I'm their ex they still love me, well at least two of them do. The other two I really don't care if they like me or not. LOL But my other nickname was MawMawSusie but I think I like Mother In Law better, I don't feel so old, like Beach Girl said, I still feel like I'm 20 in mind that is, not body. LOL In body I feel like I'm..............well let's not go there.

Well Serenity came from the peace and quiet that has engulfed our home since all but 2 are left home now out of 7. :bluewink: ..But now I am bringing a 15 month old and a 3 year old (both are our grandchildren) to live with us for a few months until my son comes out here in March to live.

Threads_40 however came from my oldest brother who for some reason everytime I wentto Florida to visit him..he would pull a loose string off me.. :nc: ..lol So he said the next time he found one I would be threads for life. That was quite a few years ago and sure enough my family felt it was the best nick name I could have.
