I have revelled in every minute I get to escape into a historical trilogy of books by Francine Rivers - The Mark of The Lion Series.
These follow a Jewish Christian gal who survives the destruction of Jerusalem - her servanthood to a Roman Family - a Germanian Gladiator - it's all just absolutely WONDERFUL!
Pretty scarey though - how very much our society is mirroring the Romans - and we know what happened to that 'great' society!

For winter (or anytime) reading - try these books!

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers is also spell-binding!

Yes, I can agree wholehartedly - The Mark of the Lion series is spellbinding as is Redeeming Love. My 18year old daughter has just discovered these books on our bookcase and she is now enjoying them as well.
