This is my first time in here.
I am making a baby blanket for my first grandchild
and wanting to binding on it. But no clue on how to do it.
Is there someone that can help me.
I have searched the web and keep coming up with dead ends. :bang: :bang:
If anyone knows how to do this or even has
pics to show to do it, it would mean a lot to me.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Penny and welcome to Sew Whats New.

Do you mean satin binding along one edge or a bias binding that goes all the way around the four sides?

Do you have the binding already? If not you can find some colors od blanket binding at Joann's, Hancock Fabric, Walmart. This ia already folded and easy to put on with a zig-zag stitch.
Do you know how to make a mitered corner?

This will be kinda hard to describe in words, but...
1. Stop the seam allowance distance you are using from the next side when you get to the corner. For example - if you are using 1/4" seam allowance, then stop 1/4" from the corner.
2. Take needle and fabric OUT of machine.
3. Turn work 90 degrees.
4. Flip binding up, away from you towards the back - this will create a fold in the binding.
5. Fold the binding towards you with the fold exactly along the edge you just finished sewing.
6. Put your needle down - exactly at the 1/4" intersection at the corner.
7. Start sewing this second side.

Try it - it works. I'd sewn for YEARS and was fighting this on a jacket corner, and went to my quilting teacher and she taught me. Very useful thing to know.
