I purchased a Janome 8100 and a Customizer 2000. I would like to digitize designs. Do I need to purchase a digitizer software to go with the Customizer. I'm learning the embroidery on my own and need help or tips on how to make designs. :throw:

The 2000 will let you digitize to an extent but not that extensive There are a lot of programs out today to digitize that have better results. In order to digitize you have to start with a good clean picture with clean lines. They told us in a class I took on digitizing if you put the pic over a light box then trace the lines of the outline then add as little detail as you can at first until you can reconize the picture you are tracing on your paper. Making sure all the lines formed are closed areas. then you can assign the closed area stiches. If you leave open lines and want to fill in that area you will wind up with a mess. After the main area is assigned stitches then you can add the detail running or satin stiches to make up the inside curves of the design. That's about all I know about digitizing I'd like to know more but don't have time to play with it. I do have the 2000 and have played around with it some. The digitzing is done in the Easy Import section of the software.
