I have been offline since the middle of December due to a mold problem in our basement and just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing.

We discovered mold in our basement in mid December, and our three year old has severe eczema (immune comprimised). We started stripping and cleaning and getting rid of stuff. My sewing room as well the rest of the basement is cleared to the concrete walls and floor.

Thank goodness for the the stash contest in October, I had already reduced my stash substansually before this all started. My stash is now further reduced to two totes (from a wall full of shelves) and my notions are just shoved in boxes, I will have to go through them later. My embroidery machine and serger have been sitting on my dresser with the covers on since the first day, with my other machines tucked in relatively safe places (with three little boys that is somewhat questionable, even on the dresser) throughout the house. I am in severe sewing withdrawl and I still have a long way to go before I will be able to sew much.

Fortunately, we don't celebrate a commercial christmas (except for the small presents that I took to my family at the beginning of December), so I was able to concentrate on cleaning mold in December. It is amazing how much stuff we accumulate. I can only keep the stuff we really need, not all of the nice to have and might need someday stuff. I have gotten rid of huge piles of things and more to go.

Enough complaining, at least I will have a non cluttered house out of this deal and an excuse to buy more fabric once the project is done! I will also be able to plan a nice corner of the mold, hopefully allergy free multipurpose room that the basement will become into a nice sewing space.

Now that I am back online,I will be able to read what everybody else is doing to help with the withdrawl pains.

Have a great day,
Melanie
