If someone were to make a film of your life - who would you choose to play you?
I would choose to be played by Julie Walters ( Mrs Weasley in a variety of Harry Potters and many others) She often portrays a down to earth, gutsy woman, not ashamed of her past but who is going to grab her future with both hands and, probably, teeth.

So which of you is Julia Roberts?
Patsy- you must be Erin Brockovitch!

Who is Jessica Tandy?

I would have said Rosie Odonell(sp) & few years ago before she came out of the closet. Now I am not sure maybe Oprah but that would take a lot of makeup or imagination. For my husband I would pick John Goodman (not because he is my favorite but because the characters he plays are a lot like my DH. ( If I was going by would I would like to be with on the screen it would probably be Tom Hanks).

I'd have to have Lucille Ball play me, lol. Although hubby says I have Bette Davis eyes.

Patsy, it's just the legal connection! I have no idea if you are like 'old-bicycle-peddle-lips' ( as we call her in this house)

I love Sanda Bullock in Miss Congeniality and Demolition man she is so funny!

Hubby was doing his Gary Cooper impression the other day - it was so funny I nearly wet yself - he looked JUST LIKE my FIL! Tony is more of a Harrison Ford - though he doesn't get beaten up as much.

At one point there actually was a guy who called and wanted to make a tv movie about my daughter and a little stir she made that hit the national news.
Well the whole family got quite a laugh thinking of who should play them.
I think it would have to be Meryl Streep for me.
You know, someone beautiful, intelligent, wise, understanding, funny, incredibly talented and humble (of course) to be me.
But the guy never called back.

The boobs might match Magot but I've never been the low neck, skin tight, expose it all in the office type of legal person. Actually, I'm pretty conservative when it comes to office dress, especially now that it's colder than a well digger's behind here in Oklahoma (25 degrees today) I'm into the baggie corduroys, loose sweaters, warm socks and loafers. The older I get the more comfortable I want to be, even in the office.

I think her name is Rhea Pearlman & she is married to Danny Divito. Unless I have my people all mixed up again which wouldn't be unusual.

That's her. She's so dry and spunky. That's why my SIL said she reminded her of me. She's a lot thinner then me. And yes she is married to Danny Divito. Thanks Mom for the info.

Meg Ryan. She's who my husband is all hot for so I must look like her right? Don't I wish.
Or maybe Mary Stuart Masterson. I loved her in Fried Green Tomatoes.
Of course these ladies are both to thin to play me.
Who is short, round, and full of spunk?
Drew Barrymore might work. She has always had a little cushion to her. She could play me in my before kids life.
Or I could just steal Jan's actress. Mrs. Weasley could be me in my current life.

Friday --
It's kind of a long story and a stupid one. She got a perfect score on her SAT and her eyebrow pierced at about the same time and they wouldn't let her participate in gym unless she took it out. That meant she wouldn't graduate. They told her it was a state law. But a friend of mine, a reporter, did a story on it (smart kid -- stupid administrator) and learned there was no state law -- they'd lied. The story hit the wires and she was on radio talk shows all over the country and featured in national publications.
She figured she would have to take it out when it came down to flunking the gym class and not graduating but she pushed it to the end, doing everything they told her short of removing it (it was so new she feared she wouldn't be able to get it back in).
We went to a meeting with the Superintendent and the principal got mad and threw a chair at my husband. The superintendent finally said to her. "It's that it's a ring and could get torn out."
She asked if she put a stud in could she keep it and he knew he'd lost.
They let her write a couple papers about sports to pass the class and graduate but they could save face. She won an award from the ACLU for standing up for her God given right to poke a hole in her face.
Bottom line -- the principal got fired and works in a smaller district now and she graduates from law school this year. She works part time as a clerk at a big law firm in New York and can remove the ring when she goes to work.

Sam from Laurel Canyon is when this realization came upon me, but I have been a fan for a much longer time.

Christian Bale has become one of my favorite actors, if not my favorite. I first noticed him when I was much younger, when I would repeatedly watch films like Empire of the Sun, Treasure Island, and Newsies. Soon came Swing Kids and by the time I saw Little Women in theaters back in 94, he was an actor I was well familiar with and enjoyed quite a bit. From there on I would look forward to his future films, and my fondness for his acting skills have only grown. I noticed his voice in the animated film Pocahontas as soon as he spoke, which I found pretty cool.

He's the sort of character I would want to play in my movie. I think he has this wonderful shade of darkness and lightness in his performances. I still am not able to explain it the same way that I feel it, but I know it is there. He can convincingly act like the sweetest, most romantic person, filled with love, compassion, and passion. However, on the other paw, he can also be convincingly malicious and cruel. The look in his eyes has been able to send shivers down my spine. I've seen him play both the hero and the villain, and in a few of his films he starts off as the better guy but ultimately turns to the darker side. The whole light and dark thing actually reminds me of myself quite a bit and I believe that is part of the reason I enjoy him so much. I ultimately get involved with his characters because they somewhat reflect me.

It was one of the oddest movie experiences I ever had, watching him in Laurel Canyon. His character reminded me of myself so much, I couldn't help but get into the film more than most other films, perhaps just for his character. It was as though I was watching part of myself when watching that film, especially towards the end. The scene when he wandered into the room believing that Kate Beckinsale had cheated on him is probably my favorite Bale scene ever. There was just so much emotion put into that scene and it somehow just reminded me of myself for some reason. I felt his anger and disappointment, honestly. It was such a great scene. In fact, the film wasn't that bad, if only for Christian and Kate. I don't expect many of you have seen it, and I wouldn't really recommend it to such a crowd because I doubt many of you would like it, but it was a fine film, nevertheless. The more I think about this film the more I believe I liked it. The symbolism, such as the water, the boat, and the shirt. Oh, it was just fantastic. Kate's accent was impressive, as well.

Equilibrium was another brilliant Bale film with fascinating choreography. I found myself caught up in it more than The Matrix. The plot was intriguing and Bale was at his best. This is another example of Bale?s dark/light aura. I was particularly touched by the scene when Bale begins to feel. When he awakes and discovers the sunrise with the light enchanting rain. It was such a beautiful scene. The beginning darkroom scene was also an excellent scene, and a pleasant way to get the movie started. Some people find scenes like that uncomfortable, but I rather enjoyed it. The doggy scene pulled me in, too. And how about that Beethoven scene!!!

Equilibrium > Matrix

The Machinist should be good. I was thinking about seeing it in theaters, but I would much rather wait until it comes out so I can watch it in my own cozy room. If any of you have seen it, though, feel free to comment on it. I heard it wasn't that good, but that only encourages me to see it more.

Batman Begins is going to be totally awesome to the most astronomical degree. Christian Bale is the ideal choice for Wayne/Batman and this continues to enhance my point about his dark/light side. I haven't looked forward to a film this much ever. I've already read the script and I think this'll easily make the best Batman film yet. It has a great cast and an excellent director working on it. This'll be one that I won't be able to wait for to hit DVD. I'll probably see it the day it enters the theaters and I'm not usually like that when it comes to movies.

If I was a girl, however, I would like Hilary Swank to play me. :dave:

I thought that Michael Keeten has a raw dark side to his batman that was missing in the others - the Dark Knight has a shadowed and troubled past and that came out well - much more Bob Kane than George Cluney who I felt was rather wet. I haven't seen the whole light dark thing wit Christian Bale not having seen many of his movies though he does have a descent in Laurie. I'm looking forward to the new film, as I say saddly disappointed in Batman and Robin - I think it Must have been the direction - it went too far in the camp comic genre to be believable - bring back Tim Burton! ( the man is a genius)

I shall have to look out for Equilibrium - I had not heard of it before.

Mary, I believe our amidextrous chum shows his creations rather than himself

Tyne Daly would be a good one to play me as well, although I was thinking more along the lines of Roseanne Barr at first. Roseanne or Ozzy Osbourne's wife, Sharon are most like me. I am a little rough around the edges, am always trying to run the show at home, have a wierd sense of humor, am not afraid to say what I think, and have struggled with my weight. But if we are talking who I wish I looked like that would be Demi Moore! John Goodman would be a good choice to play my hubby because they act a lot alike, or Sam Elliott cause he is just plain sexy!

Hey Dexter,
I managed to get hold of a copy of Equilibrium at the weekend - I felt it was a bit 1984 meets Farenheit 451 with a touch of Matrix thrown in. The opening scene was very powerful and I got all excited at the thought of Sean Bean in it as well, but he didn't last long. (I thought he was great as Sharpe.) I did enjoy the Beethovan scene and when he saw the dawn for the first time. I thought his son was scarey, especially when he smiled! I can see what you mean when you say that he would make a good Batman - the whole darkthing is quite evident but there was tenderness as well. Unfortunatly I think I would have enjoyed it more had I seen it a few years ago when the whole Matrix thing wasn't as overpowering in the collective subconcious.

Let's see now. They would have to find an actress that was short with middle-age plump, who is clumsy and unco-ordinated, falls over if she leans to the right or closes her eyes, but is very outgoing and has a weird sense of humour and will go for the laugh anytime, anywhere - Nope, can't see it happening - I guess I'll just have to stay one-of-a-kind!!
The only person I could think of that even came close would be the girl that played on Dharma and Greg (can't think of her name, add "has lots of senior's moments to the list") - but she would have to have dye her hair and gain some pounds.

Mamahoogie - have you ever heard of the english actress Miriam Margolis? She played the nurse in Leonardo de Caprios' Romeo and Juliet - sound right up your street. A completely wacky, dark, short, plump, sexy comedienne. She was fabulous in an adaption of Cold Comfort Farm as well. And Black Adder.
