I'm looking to replace my 30+ year old straight/zigzag stitch Kenmore with a better machine. I'm fascinated by embroidery machines and would like to do some quilting also. I will be making my window treatments for my new house also. So I need a machine that will do all of that.

I saw a BabyLock Intrigue Saturday that was on close out, but was gone today. They showed me the Ellure for $999. Looks like that's the Babylock sale price.

Is the Ellure a good machine for what I want to do????

Depends on the type of quilting you do .I have the PC 6500 which is the same machine as the Ellure but with the Brother name on it [they are both made by Brother].It is a great machine but the throat area is a bit small for bigger quilt. If you do a lot of quilting you might want one with a bigger throat area.

I have the PC6500 Brother also. Just got it 2 weeks ago and I really like it. I believe it could do every sewing job you mentioned. I haven't tried it for piecing quilt blocks or machine quilting yet but I plan on doing this with it. I've quilted large quilts on my Husky with the same size throat as the 6500.
There is a larger machine for machine quilting made by Juki. Its a straight stitch machine, very well made but will not do any zigzag. Costs $900. I own one of these but I doubt if it is what you want.

There is a new machine by Viking in your price range..on sale for $999. It is the Scandinavia #300. There are 3 new Scandinavia's and the model 300 is a combo sewing/embroidery machine. I was told it is like the Viking Iris. I know nothing about these machines but the price and styling of this machine has interested me being it is a combo machine. I have a stand along embroidery machine and thought if I ever get a combo ..that the Scandinavia 300 might interest me.
