I've seen this machine at Walmart for $434 - and on the Brother website it's listed as a clone of the Innovis 500D, also a clone of the Babylock Intrigue. It seems like an awesome machine for the price. I have the Brother CS8150 - which uses the same cassette thread system, and I'm very satisfied and comfortable with it. I love that machine, and this SE270D seems like a nice companion machine with embroidery.

Just wondering if anyone has any likes or dislikes.
Blessed be...

I own the SE 270D.  It embroiders beautifully. I have two other brother machines, and it stitches as well as those. Why I purchased it, was because of the price, and because of the size of the machine. It is only 10 pounds without the embroidery module. I love that! It has lots of heirloom and quilting stitches. Wonderful decorative stitches. The auto thread cutting device and the thread cartridge with auto threading makes it a pleasure to operate this machine. It is very easy to learn how to use it. I will say that it is not meant for uphostery sewing, heavy thick materials etc...save your full size machine for that job. If you want a machine that will do quilting, dress making, and the like.... as well as 4 x 4 embroidery designs... this is the one for you!

I purchased mine through ebay, from Premier Appliance. They sell reconditioned machines, and guarantee that if they cannot fix the machine with an email, that they will replace it. The other bonus for purchasing a machine from them was that you get the PED Basic with the machine on some auctions. I wanted an extra embroidery card...and that made buying this machine from them a treat!

I don't work for or with premier appliance, I have had a very positive experience purchasing this machine from them.
And all of us sewists/embroidery enthusiasts and quilters need to stick together to save money for our fabric and thread stashes.

Just my humble oppinion.... so please...don't shoot me. :bolt:
