Emmysmom I have a couple of Singers so I will see if I can help you out with your problem. First, of all, did you remove the metal plate that covers the feed dogs? You may have a lot of thread trapped under there that is still causing you problems with the bobbin. If not, consult your manual on how you remove the plate so you can see the complete bobbin assembly and the feed dogs to be sure there is no thread tangled down under those mechanisms. Patsy Patsy

" While I can't be certain since I'm a new sewer myself (2 years now) it sounds like it could be not pulling your bobbin thread through the throat plate correctly or you don't have your machine threaded through all of it's paths correctly. The only reason I know these things is I have a singer machine that when I bought it brand new I had to replace 2 bobbin casings (40.00 each - ouch) becuase I ruined them from not pulling the thread through correctly because I didn't have any experienced sewers around to teach me. When you said your machine was running sluggish means it's not able to move it's parts correctly. Sure hope that helps. Sherri |
