Thanks! yes, everything in my Kids N Crafty things album I made myself. I really enjoy doing the lights, they are very versatile fo rjust about any occasion. Justin picked out the fabrics by himself for his quilt-he's 6! Such a good eye for color!

No,
When you go to Esrun3's page for the quilts, look to the left andyou will see a index of her other projects. The very top item is the blocks we are talking about. These are blocks used in home construction, like in basement windows or bathrooms.
I saw one at Christmas, but not up close. It did not have the pictures on it, just the lights inside.
If you get a chance check out the other items she has worked on!!!!

Everyone is SOOOOOOOOOOO talented!!!!! :bg: :bg:

Hi all, Susan and I are NOT one and the same but she makes the blocks too. My other album is entitled Kids N Crafty Things that you can see there too. Just click on pick other albums.

For the glass blocks, buy one of those blocks at your local Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. You need to put a hole in the bottom-I use a 1/2 inch diamond drill bit & a drill press but some people chip it out, others use a hand held drill, and sometimes the place you buy it from will drill the hole for you. Clean out the inside-I rinse mine with water to get the glass & dust out then let it dry for several days altho some people use a hair dryer aimed in the hole to help dry it.

I printed out some clip art I liked -for an 8x8 block the size would be 6 3/4 x 6 3/4 but measure the block inside the lip of the outside. You can spray coat the picture with matte or gloss sealer or cover with sticky laminate (some people use the duck laminate in the shelf liner section of Walmart, I do several layers of gloss spray sealer). After both sides are done and dry, insert a strand of 20-50 Christmas lights in the bottom, I then tape down the cord along the bottom so the plug end is coming out to the side. Wrap ribbon around the outside of the block (on the sides, top & bottom) and top off with a bow, blocks for a baby light, whatever your like actually. Some of us glue the clear half glass beads to the bottom for feet. Hardest part is getting the hole drilled-be careful so you don't crack the glass, go slow and take your time.

Hope that helps......instead of clip art I would think you could probably use a a favorite picture (not photograph) like from a calendar or poster type pic.

Let me know if you have any questions. I have a feeling many of you looked at Susan's stuff-she's really very talented. I havent' done near the amount of crafts she has but take a look at my other album too. there are some glass blocks in there as well as a trout mailbox I made my son for Christmas!
