I prefer to use cloth diapers on my baby. I've been using prefolds and the plastic Gerber pants. I have patterns for making cloth covers like the "Bummis" or "Happy Heinies" wraps, but am not sure what fabric to use. Obviously I want something that will hold in leaks--but don't want something bulky. Is there a specialty fabric that I should look for?

You have a couple of options. The most popular from what I've seen is a fabric called PUL it is a breathable knit waterproof fabric. There is a thicker version of the same thing which isn't breathable, but is also less likely to wick moisture to clothing.
Your other option is wool. Also breathable and popular. Could be worth doing a google search for diaper pages, some of which stock the fabrics concerned.

Good luck
