Everyone tells me about how good green tea is for you. They all seem to know so much but they don't know why it is good. Can anyone enlighten me as to why green tea is good for you?

Wow! I think I could drink one or two cups, but ten? That was a very good article, now I think I may start drinking green tea more often. |

Green tea is also very nice and soothing if you pat the used tea bag over your face and eyes. It helps to counteract irritation and puffyness! And supposedly the antioxidents should help repair free radical (ie pollutant, sun, etc) damage. |

Funny, it has the opposite effect on me. I feel totally stress free after one cup. I have one every evening after the dishes are done.

Green tea to wake you up in the morning is quite refreshing but I couldn't drink it all day. 10 japanese cups is nowhere near the same as 10 good ol mugs - the cups are quite small. I also understood it was due to the antioxidents mopping up the free radicals. Free radicals can be regarded as the 'bad guys' amongst cancer inducing chemicals. If green tea leaves you wired try camomile - I don't think it has the same free radical removing properties but is very relaxing. love and kisses, Jan

I love green tea but not ten cups but I drink two or three a day usually, which is likely 10 chinese cups. My chiropractor and the fellow who does acupuncture (and has a degree in chinese medicine) highly recommend it. Violet I've decided to live forever - so far, so good.

MY SIL owns a coffee shop think Starbucks(its not Starbucks but offer similar drinks) in a small town. So she sells CHAI to. Chai is the most popular drik with females who go there. I don't usually have CHAI. Preferring my Caramel Almond Turtle Mocha. Sher My website

I have been drinking green tea since college (the 70's). It wasn't fashionable then, and it didn't come in tea bags. You had to go to a health food store or a Pagan shop to buy it. I had a very bad habit in college of living on coffee and M and M's. My wall mate was from Europe and she was the one who got me into drinking that. She explained all the benifits of it and said I needed to detox myself. We would have a weekly detox session, and at night she would bring me a steaming cup of green tea. I have bought the bags of tea, but they seem very weak to me. I will have one cup with dinner, then maybe one before bed. They say if you drink it with your meals it helps to boast your metabolism. Summersecho, Sounds like fun detoxing with friends. If I could find that here in Orange County I'd be one happy hippie, but all the real detoxers are in Northern California where I used to live. A Pagan shop? Funny how it was only the pagan shops that carried healthy things back then and now the same product is not considered voodoo. Magot, You can always make Chai without ginger. My boyfriend is a yogi from India and taught me how.. Black Tea (loose). Add to boiling water and steep for 5-10 minutes. Filter out the tea and add Cinnimon, clove, black pepper corns whole, cardomom pods and nutmeg (add alot because these should be whole spices except for nutmeg), then let it simmer for 20 minutes and strain. I always add vanilla creamer from the frig to sweeten it. For those of you who love ginger, chop fresh ginger root - 3 tbsp to the mix and simmer. Enjoy! |
