My friend is getting married in October and I would like to make her a ring pillow. Does anyone know of a pattern or a website where I can get some ideas? I'm also looking for ideas on wedding favors. Thank you.

Hi Julie,
I made the ring pillows for my wedding. I wanted heart shaped ones so I cut out a paper heart slightly bigger than the pillow size. I used Waste Canvas to stitch our names and the date on the pillows. They were made from the same fabric as my dress and the trim was from the lace I used for a veil and the lace on my dress. I added ribbon ties to them to attach the rings to the pillows.

We had fabric roses filled with rice instead of the standard tulle rice bags.

Maybe this will give you some ideas. I don't know of a website that would have any suggestions but you might try a Google search.

www.theKnot.com is a wedding site. Great ideas for everything, including the area you live in. We have been living on that site for DD's wedding ideas.

Don't forget when you make the pillow to attach a piece of elastic on the bottom side big enough for the ring bearer to slip his hand through so he can have a good grip on the pillow and not drop it...That was the best part I did for the one my son carried when his aunt got married.. :bg: :bg:

The ring pillows are usually very ornate with lots of ruffles and "stuff". When I have made them in the past I have used at one or two thin strands of ribbon and a string of pearls together to make the bows. The pearls give them a little extra flash. You can also do all kind of nice things with the pearl strands on the pillow, around edges, etc. With all the nice embroidery patterns avail. you should be able to come up with something really nice. There is a lovely bell feebee at "Hatched in Africa" that I have saved to be used on my dd ring pillow.
