Guess 'cause February officially starts tomorrow, they're gonna' make us wait one more day...
Here we are, scraps in one hand and scissors in the other...and we have to put them down and go vacuum or something!!!
Mary...Joanne...if you're reading this: the excitement is building. Maybe you could post the new Advent Quilt block at one minute after midnight YOUR time!? (Heehee, that way I'll have it at 9:01PM my time. :dave: )

Guess I 'll have to drink a pot of coffee and plan on staying up all night and be ready for the block's arrival. Gonna wear out this mouse. The suspense is killing me. HURRY with the block before y'all have to go to a funeral.........Mine! hahahaha

Ok girls, chill out. The next block is very pretty, I have seen it. :bluewink:

But, you must have patience. It will take me a bit of time to load it with this new system. In the meantime, plan where you are going to hang this quilt.

You know, a non-quilter/non-sewer reading our posts would think we have NO LIVES! We do - in fact we're VERY busy - especially at the first of the month: wake up, check SWN site, wash face, brush hair, make coffee, check SWN site, get breakfast, pack lunches, get everybody out the door, check SWN site, clean kitchen, do dishes, check SWN site, get dressed, make bed, check SWN site, start laundry, run vacuum, check SWN site, clean litter box, walk dog, sort mail, check SWN site, mix bread dough, wash kitchen floor...check SWN site...

(Glad I'm not the only one! None of the people I live with understand this fascination but my Cyber-Friends do - and I love belonging to such a great bunch.)

Oh...gotta' go! Time to check the SWN site!!!

Patience people, patience!

What's the betting the order people submit blocks for the album is different this time! I took a while before I got round to doing mine - that way I could listen to other peoples problems and look like a GENIUS when mine fitted together....

So very true! I looked and looked at the pictures and read all the posts and then tried my block - was rather nervous about the angles - then decided if other gals could do it, so could I. Maybe this new block will be a bit easier and we could look like geniuses a lot sooner, eh?

I had mine done very early on. Cut and sewed the same day. Don't have a digital camera like all you "well off" people. Gonna send Jan. and Feb. at same time.
Magot and M&M....thank you for the laughs. You two are so funny.

Got my digital camera with my Club Z (Zeller's) points! (Only took me about ten years of shopping there to get enough!) Gave it to hubby for Christmas. He was tickled pink.

By the way, what does ROFL mean? What about ROFLMAO? (I finally figured out that LOL means Laugh Out Loud! And you gals think I'M funny!?!?!)

M & M: ROFL = rolling on floor laughing and ROFLMAO = rolling on floor laughing my a__ off. I change the A to B = booty. Not that I am a prude or anything like that. Some sites want allow certain language and you can be kicked off. So I just try to be on the safe side. BTW, I brought my lunch to the computer with me. Don't want to miss the block. Now that I think of it, I suppose it is ok to use the A word .... M & M you did and you are still here. hahaha

Mary is not posting the block just to see us squirm.

What will be the maximum number of colors in any block? The first one was three. It would be helpful to know for planning. The house was my first block ever, so I'm definitely using it as a practice block.

For this block there will be four colors and don't forget what I said. It's "pretty".

Sorry I don't have it up yet, I am wrestling with this new system. It doesn't mind text but images make it cranky as can be.

We got a new digital camera for Christmas (family gift), it's so much fun! We have been using disposable camera's for the last few years after our cat broke our "real" camera..... I am terrible about getting them developed, then pictures sorted and mailed off to my mother in Toronto.... With the new camera I can upload them to my computer, then download them to the Wal-Mart website and have prints sent to her local store, my mother is very happy with this arrangement  She actually gets to see her 3 grandchildren LOL

Now I'm just babbling, killing time, waiting for the new block......

I'm squirming already! How many times can I look for the block I want when I'm at work and not supposed to be "playing" on the computer???!! :throw:

And then I come home, check the site, walk the dog, check the site, run to the store, check the site, make some paper crafty things, check the site and there is NOTHING!!! Surely you don't want me to sew my other things I have piled up to finish do you? Where's the fun in that, I ask you?? LOL

You guys are all indeed very funny! I've had some great laughs today! I bet Mary is just ROFL.........I can see her now! Yes, you Mary!! :bg:

I'm thinking that if I was Mary I wouldn't be ROFL right now.
If she isn't in her PJ's drinking hot cocoa, she just might be GHT over the new computer program she is wrestling with. (GHT = Grinding Her Teeth!)

Hang in there, Mary, we are all pulling for you...trying to be patient...thinking OK...pretty...four colors...dum de dum de dum...

luv2sew says there's a Block Fairy...if she doesn't come tonight I might have to make another house block, just to keep from twitching...dum de dum de dum...

Maybe we'll have to form a support group for frantic block wanters!

Well, let me tell you girls......I'll never believe in the block fairy ever again. I was a good girl, even ate my peas and for what???? If it were not for the bundle of switches and the block of coal I get, I wouldn't believe in Santa either. Have to go to the Dentist (and Joanne's) today so maybe it will be here when I get back.

Take your time today Mary, late afternoon will be fine.

No block yet? Does that mean that I have to work again today?? How totally unfair! :whacky:

Block fairy? There is no such thing-either that or she has been delayed by the bad weather around the country! LOL

Keep working Mary. I'm sure you are working hard-when you aren't rolling on the floor laughing at all of us! by the way, the new site is looking very nice!!(but it would look better with a new block on it :bluewink: )

I'll check back later, maybe it will be ready when I get home tonight.

Okay...Block Fairy delayed...on to Plan B...clean out sewing machine desk drawers...sort stash...tidy fabric cupboard...clear off cutting table...set up ironing board...plug in iron...get ready...and get all that ironing done instead of checking the site every half hour!!!

(At least that's MY plan to get through the day without going into terminal "Block Withdrawal". What's YOURS?)

I hereby promise, to attempt, to try not, to check this site more than ten times today.

Must...control...impulse...to...grab...mouse...and ...click...on...SWN...icon.
Must...muster...up...some...self...discipline...
Must...relax...

Wish I could have all of you over for coffee while we wait!

PS to Joanne - Many, many, many pieces? Um...maybe a BETW instead!

OMG, I just checked in to see if the Feb. block is up yet, and read through this thread - what a bunch of addicts we are, LOL!

Here I am dying to get a look at the new one, and I'm not even finished with Jan! I want to do some cross-stitch on mine, and had to mail-order the waste canvas. I don't have a digital camera either, and will probably be sending in Jan. & Feb. at the same time too.

I was thinking of doing some embroidery on my house block, too - maybe a vine around the window or a pot of flowers by the door. I'll have to practice though! Last thing I embroidered was some "His 'n Hers" pillowcases for my hopechest - and that was many, many moons ago! (Hope it's like riding a bike...)

I come from the IT department and I personally know that when users BUG me about something non-stop, they go to the bottom of the list and I start working on another project for awhile. Mary is probably already working on February's block as she is most likely stressed. (After all she does have the block instructions from Joanne). :dave: But, I'm sure that Mary knows that we are all just having fun. She does a great job and we love her for all of her work here. I think Mary will agree, that software upgrades can be a pain! :throw: There is always bugs to be worked out and new things to be learned. Once Mary gets through this months block posting, she will be an old hand and then she will be able to post the rest of the years blocks in March! :bluewink:

We are so eager for the block Mary but Like Libby said we willl be patient with ya! I am sure Mary is trying her best for all of us. Everyone do a another block and give that quilt away come the end of the year to someone that would least expect it or someone homeless, sick, etc. Be patient ladies and keep busy, and Keep Mary in your prayers. I think we might need a naughty chair Mary for some. LOL!

I just did a nine patch table runner for my neice and quilted it myself all by machine. I would like to send a pic, but don't know how to on this? Any ideas? I don't want to send it to the photo album that has our house blocks on it.

I am trying VERY hard to keep busy and out of Mary's hair. Just cleaned out my fabric stash cupboard and re-organized a bit. (I am so loving learning to sew and quilt after having to work for the past thiry years. I hope you have a job you like/love - I remember how much I used to look forward to lunch hour!) Have a good "rest of the day". And thanks for posting - knowing I made you laugh made me smile, too.

It took me months before I worked out what the heck a BOM was - I thought it was some kind of weird text speak I didn't know. I had the same trouble with WOW - I still can't get my head around calling my husband DH - it seems so patronising to me.
If that isn't the moment for a ROFLMHO I don't know what is! ;-)

The basis of my teasing is that I really enjoyed doing the last block and I'm really EXCITED to see the next one, even if I'm totally not ready to actually make it yet LOL :bg:

It took me months before I worked out what the heck a BOM was - I thought it was some kind of weird text speak I didn't know. I had the same trouble with WOW - I still can't get my head around calling my husband DH - it seems so patronising to me.
If that isn't the moment for a ROFLMHO I don't know what is! ;-)

I took me a bit to figure out the BOM too, what is a WOW????

LOL about the dh, I have a friend who calls her dh DA in real life, it stands for dumb _ss, and he answers to it... he prefers it over Doug :nc: I guess as long as it's said with love????? :re:

I was wondering too, about WOW. I looked it up and now I am even more confused! :nc:

No need for confusion...Magot is right. In Quilter-ese, WOW stands for "White on White" fabric. Did a Christmas Angel at the local quilt shop and the instructor was big on WOW fabric - looks nicer and appears to have a bit of texture even though it's just two shades of white rather than plain white. So.........the angel's wings were made with white fabric with brighter white dots on it - thus WOW. Looks nice.

That's OK Mary.....just take your time.
I went to the dentist and now in pain so can't work on a block anyway. Just went for check up of surgery he did last month and had to do some more. Oooohhhhh woe is me.
I have been quilting on one I have in the frame, embroidering a motif for the center blocks on another, knitting little hats for newborns and a friend sent me the pattern of the BOM she is working on......BUT I still want THE block.

But that's OK, Mary.....take your time. I am really being patient. :bg:

www.forgetmenotstudio.com

Thanks for the idea. I like fish!

For Julia's Nana: I go the site I want and then highlight the address and click on "Copy" (in the Edit Menu), then go to the site I want to mention it on and in my post, place the cursor and click on "Paste". It usually works fine - but I always double check it just in case.

That is it........thanks! I really want to try this fish..........have the wild prints but think I need to get the two yards of blue water fabric she mentioned.

They did a great snowflake wallhanging that ended in Dec. Of course, that one is in the "to do someday" pile of patterns...............

Hey! I only checked the site twice today! Too much going on at work and then my daughter called to let me know that a driver ran a red light and totaled my son's SUV-my dil was driving and both the grandkids were in the back, air bag deployment, front end totaled, etc. Thankfully everyone is ok but it was scary there for a bit. The boys were sleeping in the back, in fact the baby kept sleeping through it. The older one woke to "my mom screaming" which is understandable but he seemed in good spirits when I talked to him. He's 6 and the baby is 10 mos. My DIL hit her knee and it is bruised and swollen but MD says "soft tissue damage" so wrap, ice & elevate.

I even managed to cut out a Valentine table runner of the month I picked up last month at Craftmart-hoping to get it made before I have to pick up Feb. runner of the month! So........I'm busy but I still want the block.

Mary I hope you know we are just kidding around. I know how horrible it can be with a new web site so we truly are patient (sort of)-ok, well maybe not but we do understand!! Hang in there! I'm giving up and going to go read tonight. will check in again in the morning.

Lyn, there is a Amish quilt sale at the fairgrounds this weekend.............it is wonderful if you like to look at lots and lots of quilts that are beautifully made. They have some quilting items also. We have gone in years past, never bought a quilt as they are pricey but, boy talk about eye candy!

Think we will miss it this year as dh is recovering from hand surgery but I highly recommend it if you are looking for something enjoyable to do this weekend.

Awoke bright eyed and bushy tailed, rip raring to go on that block. Guess what???? Yep you got it, no block.
I cut the pieces for one of the motif blocks last night, just to see what it is going to look like, and it is soooo pretty. Not that I would brag or anything like that. I think my granddaughter is going to be very happy with this one.
Going for another :coffee2: and play the waiting game again today. :bg:
Have a glorious day everyone.

Lyn I am very glad your family is ok, ar accidents are scary! Even for those of us getting the phone call about it when it's our "babies" involved eh?

I am off to work in a bit, but only for 3 hours as my two older kids have early dismissal on Thurs's at noon, so here's to hoping the computer program and Mary get along while I'm gone :bluewink: Not that I'll actually start cutting and sewing any time soon, I'm just anxious to see it lol

Did you ever vision all these chatter boxes when you took on this project? Us old pros just sit back and wait. We've learned to not get too excited. RofL? I tell ya I am been doing a lot of that, with all these posts! Some are just way too funny. We are having more fun than should be allowed on this site, I am telling ya! If we don't get that block soon, we will all be in the corner for the rest of FEB! LOL! :bolt:
I love it though. I check the site in the morning at 545 am, ck it at lunch, then at night several times. :throw: A lady at work yesterday said Quilting is an addiction, and I said well I am Addicted BAD! ROFL~! I bought fabric last week and Tues and today, and spent almost 3 digits in figures. Fabric stash is looking good! LOL! Does not help working for Walmart and being near the fabric department! I would rather do SWN and quilt than to eat! Well I can eat and do both at the same time! I am trying to get my twin still to do this BOM. Never know though, she still might. Ok Kelly, where is your little house at too?
So many quilts, so little time!

Mary and Joanne, I think you will have to put us all in separate rooms and in corners! WHEW! Hope we don't run you both off, with all our crazieness! We are having too much fun!!!!!!!! Just having fun while we wait! We certainly understand your frustrations with things!

Norma, thanks for the info. It was already on my calendar! I wanted to go on Friday but my DD has to work until 7:30pm so we will go on Saturday. I haven't bought a quilt there -they are absolutely beautiful! But I have bought some pillows, bought my DD a hand crafted jewelry box last year and just about always pick up jam for my mom and potpie for me cuz I'm too lazy to make it! LOL

Sorry you'll miss the show this year. It has always been wonderful!

Michelle, thanks for the note about the family. It's very scary-hard when it's your kids but was terrible with it being my grandchildren involved! All are moving today-sore but at least moving and no permanent damage to anyone but the truck!

I went and checked out the fish BOM site (forgetmenotstudio.com) and downloaded that so will work on it as well as my hearts table runner while waiting for THE BOM to arrive!!

Oh yeah, I'm back home now. My body is so messed up with different time zones. :bang:!!!! Vegas was 60+ to 70+ degrees :bg: . The Pilot was mean when landing last night, he told us it was only 12* above outside in Cleveland. :bang:
Now that I'm home you can post the block for February!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't know if I will sew it for a while, need to wake up!!! But I'm ready.

On Tuesday, with no Advent Block, I went into “Quilter’s Shock!”

On Wednesday, still no block to make, so I baked a chocolate cake.

On Thursday, with no block to spy, I made myself a lemon pie.

This morning? No block for us rookies…so I made some oatmeal cookies.

No block tomorrow? Sigh. That’s OK. I plan to make bread anyway.

On Sunday if the block’s not there, it’s Baked Alaska, if I dare.

But please, by Monday, let it be, that there’s a new quilt block to see.

Without that block, sad as it sounds, I’ll gain another twenty pounds!
