Okay, I am making a robe for my grandma and I am on the sleeves. I stay stitched the front panels to the back, right sides together. Next I am to open the front and back away from each other and match the sleeves to each side and sew. Everything I have looks like the pattern until I open the robe and try to match open sleeve! At this point, there is no way the sleeve matches up exactly to sleeve hole!!!! But on the pattern it looks to match exactly. I checked and rechecked all cuts, etc. Is the sleeve supposed to be sewn on in some way everyone else is aware of except me?? Please can anyone help me with a visual? I am at wit's end. |

Tazbatgirl....without seeing it, I can give you something to look for. After you have sewn the shoulder seams and side seams, are the notches on the sleeve matching the notches on the robe? (the 1 notch to the 1 and the 2 notches to the 2) Are your seams aligned? When I set in a sleeve, I run a basting stitch from notch to notch across the cap of the sleeve which allows me to ease in the fullness. I also pin in several places. Just remember not to sew over the pins. You can also apply the sleeve without sewing the side seams but don't sew the sleeve seam either. After sewing in the sleeve, sew the side seams and the sleeve seam. Hope this helps. I am sure some others can give you some more pointers. That is a sweet and thoughtful thing you are doing for your grandmother. Luv2sew

They probably fit. With a robe you are probably working with a lot of ease. And sleeves never look like they fit. Just match your dots and notches and ease them in with gathers. Dorothy |
