I have bought them at a drapery (fabric) shop and used them in Bible covers, gym bags and stuff like that. They are wonderful for those types of uses. You have to be sure and get the right pull for your zipper weight and type as the pulls are all a little different. I have not purchased dress weight zippers, although I think that they are available locally at Hancocks. I wouldn't have a problem with trying them. The biggest problem I have had is getting the pull started on the zipper...otherwise, no problem. It just takes a little patience to get the pulls on...sometimes I'll store several pulls on a zipper tape so that I have the right pulls on the tape (when I need them) and I don't loose the pulls...you can always just zip them off the tape.

I was thinking of using them for tote bags. Sometimes its hard to find the right side and I through this would be easier.

They should be perfect for that! My local supplier sells them for .55 a foot with pulls for 5 cents (at least that is what they were last time I bought them). I also get a really good deal on my handle webbing (should you need it). If you can find a drapery outlet store, you might be able to do as well. I usually buy at least 10 yards at a time with about 15-20 pulls because it is a 45 min drive to go there. The zippers come in different weights as well as metal and plastic. It is a good idea when you purchase to label the zippers somehow with the weight of the pull so that you can get more of the right size if you need them.

I buy them on the roll from hancocks it comes with like 12 pulls on each roll....i just move the pulls down the zipper until i have the length i want then cut....with these ones if you only use it for 12 zippers you dont have to buy or put on extra pulls...it cost something like 12 or 13 bucks

I have purchased my zippers by the yard from this source for many years. http://www.newarkdress.com/nylonzippers.html
It's $9.75 for 5 1/2 yards and I have always got my moneys worth out of the purchase.
The tabs and stops are available seperately but for myself I just use the zig-zag to create my own tabs.
