Is anyone making things for Valentines Day? Maybe a heart wallhanging, a heart pillow, embroidering something?

I saw a small wallhanging done in six inch plaid squares. Every square had a muslin heart topstitched to it and buttons sewed on each corner. Very basic but cute. Each heart was a different shape. Some were long and narrow, some were short and fat.

Another idea is to cut out a heart about 4" in length. Every machine has some sort of vine stitch. Stitch three vines on the front of the heart beginning at the pointed bottom to about half way up. Each one should be a different height. Cut out another heart the same shape and size and stitch to first one right sides together. Stitch around entire outer edge. Cut a small slit in back and turn right side out. Stuff lightly and stitch up back opening.

On the front sew three small buttons to the top of the vine stems. You can wear this on your coat. Cute for a young girl to try.

What have you done for Valentines?

I went the lazy route...I bought my sister 2 blouses (and I didn't embroider either one ::gasp::), got her a stash of chocolate (we're both chocoholics) and got a toy for her dog....

Some years I do more than others..this year my heart isn't in making things...

I'm making a dress for my daughter to wear to the Daddy/Daughter Valentine dance this Friday. I'm still in the cutting out stage.

I got some Valentines flannel...very cute...has like conversation hearts all over and I made my daughter a pair of pajama pants and a little draw string bag to put them in. She's in the Navy and I mailed them out already. Talked to her yesterday and she got them and loves them.

I'm making a french maid's outfit (using simplicity #8851)
as a combination Valentine's day/ Anniversary surprise for my dh.
I plan to wrap up a feather duster as the gift I put in his car, and let him think all day at work what his "real" gift is.
Is that too naughty? lol!
16 years  ---a girl's gotta keep her dh's interest! lol! :bg:

Way to go girl! best way to keep your Man's interest - keep them guessing all through the day. Sometimes a hint at the (exotic) underwear you are wearing as he leaves the house.... :bluewink:
Last year I gave Tony flowers - he likes that. Steak goes down well, too. Daughters birthday is the 16th so I don't do much making of stuff for Valentines day. We just give cards.

I'm making my husband a shirt, but it probably won't be finished in time. Let's face it, he'll be lucky if it's started on time. So I'll probably end up getting him a bottle of his favorite -- and expensive -- Merlot.
You are lucky blessedmommyuv3. I wish I could get my husband into a French maid's outfit but some times he's just no fun at all.

Since I don't have a SO right now, I'm kinda focused on the Grands right now.. How about this for kids younger than teens to give as valentines.. Buy a package of the paper doily hearts (red ones).. Of course, you can use the white ones also.. In the center(solid part) of each one cut two parellel slits about 3/4 inch long.. Insert a single stick of chewing gum.. Write this message next to it.. "I 'chews' you to be my Valentine"..My sons used to love taking them to school on Valentine's Day.. Now the 2 younger Grands love the idea also.. I did it a couple of times at work and it was a big hit there also..

Blessedmommy, could you please reduce your image a bit. It creates havoc on the boards. Thanks.

Finished my Valentine's/Anniversary Day french maid's outfit.
I was so happy with how easy it was to sew, and with the finished garment.
Dh liked it too.
Here is a link to a review I did of the pattern and a photo of finished product:
