Today I had to go to JoAnn's. My husband said he didn't want to go and have to wait in the car for an hour. Well, I timed myself, I was in there 58 minutes, which isn't an hour. Close but not an hour. He forgets when I go to the hardware store with him and it takes him an hour to buy one screw. Got to love them.

Mine just won't go in a fabric shop. Even in New York he stands on the street outside -- even in the cold and wet. I don't understand it.

Mine is actually quite helpful - always useful to have some one to carry the "stuff". DH has an eye for colour and that helps me make some decisions - he doesn't always have the same visions I do - as how it will look when made up so I just let him stick to the colour advise not the style(he has none)

I leave my husband at the book store, he doesn't care how much time I spend in the fabric shop, cause he can't pay attention to time, while he's busy reading and drinking hot chocolate...

Mine takes me when we are riding around town but I don't stay too long, but he just sits in the truck and smokes his cigarettes one after the other so he really don't care how long I take. He's really a good sport about going with me. But on the other hand I can't tell you how many times I've tagged along in the Auto Parts stores with him looking for toys that little boys play with, like rims and crome tail pipes!!!!

Most of the times I go by myself with my DD ... sometimes if he has to come, I tell him go to Menards or Costco or something and come pick me up when you are done (by the way ... TAKE YOUR TIME) ... works out good!

Once in a while, I will ask him to join me as he usually has a good eye for colour and coordination.

Mine refuses to go into the fabric stores. He might take one quick trip around and then he's out. I really don't enjoy going to a fabric store if he comes in, he's always in such a hurry. That is when he has to be reminded of how long we were in the gardening store. :bg:

I am lucky that my dh likes to go in the fabric store. He is much better at color than I am and will spend more money than I will............... :bg:

Now sometimes it doesn't work if I really have my mind made up about what I want and he says he doesn't like it..........so sometimes, I go all by myself............. :bluewink:

I can't stand shopping for fabric with Tony - it's too painfull. When we went to try out sergers , the saleslady and I were going through threading and he said "do you mind if I go tothe computer section?" bless - off he trotted and the good lady and I relaxed. I remember saying as we oozed lyrical over a rolled hem
"How sad is this, 2 middle aged woman going , cor, look at that seam.." She laughed and understood.

My DH doesn't go to fabric stores with me. He may go to Joann's after a Holiday if he thinks about it having decorative stuff on sale, and if he is looking for something for his classroom. But that's okay. Cause the fabric store is MY PLACE. :bg: I don't really like to look at stuff with him there. Especially since he says I have "the Walmart/Joann's fabric/craft annex" at our house. But then I don't go to casinos with him when we go to cities that have them. I told him one time that going to the fabric store and touching, dreaming, planning with all that fabric does for me what pulling the arm on the slot machine does for him. He gave me a card with cash and a note that said "Go spend it at Joann's", for our anniversary that year.

My husband doesn't know what a fabric store looks like. He has never been in one (unless he went when he was small with his mom). I usually go during the day when he is working or order my fabric online.

Thats ok, because if he had any idea what the fabric in my stash that I had to get rid of cost he would croak.

Peggy you hit the nail on the head. They do their thing and we do ours to make us happy.

Melanie, I know mine would croke if he knew about my gold mine stash cost. No I take that back he probably knows he's afraid to ask in fear I might ask how much that last crome part for his Hot Rod cost. His paint job alone cost $10,000.00 so he has no room to grumble at my toys.

My dh pays all the bills in our house and takes care of the checkbook and banking so he knows what I spend at the fabric stores cause he sees the debits in the checkbook and ocassionally will ask in a scarcastic tone of voice if I have any idea how much I will need for fabric, etc. that month. I ignore him buy what I want. He knows that I know what I can spend within reason on fabrics when I want them.

Tony and I went to Cambridge today, he trotted off to the camera shop to handle and drool over new SLR digitals and I bought a great fleece remnant, some linen for a pair of trousers and 3 fat quarters wheeee! The we went to the Grad Pad for coffee overlooking the Backs, a nice walk by the river and home. I feel very mellow! I also got the spring Burda book - I've never seen these before - a goldmine off patterns for £3-50! You may have to trace them but I do that anyway.

my sweetie has been in the fabric store with me a total of 2 times....i have tried to get him to go but he does not enjoy it all...both of the times he went he stayed all of 15 mins then was off to the game store.....so now i just grab up my DD and head on out to the fabric store on my own or drop him off at home and take the car after work to do my damage.....he does not ask what i spend and does not complain about how much fabric i have in my stash....

my son and step son want to go with me tomorrow when i go to the fabric store but only because today on my way home i stopped and picked up some wendys for my DD and I...but they are in for a surprise...i have a couple and i mean a couple of things to pick up so it will be a short trip and no wendys.....
they wont ask to go again.....

My DH has no problem going to the fabric shoppe with me. He has a good eye for colors. Last yr when I was injured and had to stay in ( bed rest) He made a special trip and picked out some fabric, really nice colors just to cheer me up. I have a discount at the store and the ladies made sure they gave him it. LOL . He even sews, drapes, and does recovering of old chairs for his camp. And I can agree with the other ladies on prior posts. If he only knew how much my stash was worth . But I know how much he spends on tools etc. lol So were even He dont' say anything, He knows better lol good Man

I am very fortunate where my DH is concerned. We both support each other in our hobbies. He is into woodturning and wood working. I had told him what I wanted for my upcoming B'day, so a couple of Saturdays ago he surprised me by taking my to my local quilt shop and paying for a couple of classes I want to take along with all of the supplies for the classes. He also ordered me a new pair of lefty scissors. He has never said one word about what I spend on fabrics or supplies. He is a chemiccal engineer in the textile industry, so I gladly take him with me when I can, especially when I am planning a new special project. With his past experience in textile mills, I let him help me pick out fabric to make sure there aren't any flaws in the weaving or in the printing of the pattern.
