I am new to sewing and am teaching myself. I am making outfits for a concrete goose and have a few problems. I can not find a pattern so i bought an outfit and made a pattern from it. However, i do not know how to treat the curve tracing, cutting, and sewing. HELP appreciated

Maybe I'm not understanding you right but, are you wanting to add the seam allowance to your traceing ? If so just add 5/8" all around your traceing. It's easier ( I think ) to put small dash marks instead a solid line. At least on the curves. After you sew your pattern then make slash cuts close to the stiching on all curves. Careful not to cut into the stitching. If I misunderstood your question, I'm sorry.

In the past there have been some patterns for those in the "big 3" pattern companies. When I was sewing professionally I had a goose that was a "regular customer"...She changed it's outfits every day according to the weather/season/holidays... If the pattern companies don't still have one, you might be able to find one on the internet as a freebee. You need to know your goose's size. They usually come in two standard sizes. My family used to make fun of my various "goose" outfits. Sometimes I would come across a especially cute but decent size scrap from someone's outfit and save it for my "goose customer" (with my other customer's permission, of course). It doesn't take a lot of fabric. You might be able to adapt a pet cost pattern for one. As I remember it was usually funnel shaped...I can't remember if they slipped on over the head or had openings. When her daughter got married, we made it a wedding dress & veil. It dressed for the prom...it was a little crazy.

I inherited my mother's cement goose after she passed away. I have made several outfits for it. Usually, for the season or the holidays. The pattern is funnel shaped, where it slides over the head. I made my own pattern for it. If you would like, take some measurements of your goose and I will trace another pattern for you. This is very simple to sew, one seam. You can add trim to the collar area and the "bottom". I also try to make most of the hats. Right now it is dressed for winter. It's wearing a fleece animal print, and fleece hat. I also knitted a little scarf. It looks so warm.

I just received a cement goose last weekend from my mother in law. It is the biggest one I have ever seen! It is 30" tall by 23" wide from tail to chest! I think it can wear kids clothes! LOL So I guess I will be trying to make it some clothes. Right now it is in my dinningroom getting repainted, it has human looking eyes on it right now! Yikes! :nc: So when I come up there Liz, can you help me make a pattern for it?
Thanks sis!

Once you have your basic pattern for your goose there's no limit to the ideas you can come up with. My goose dresses up for every season and all kinds of weather. My favorite costume I sewed is her bikinni, it comes with a VERY padded bikinni top, with a frilly little skirt for the bottoms. Of course one of the little doll size straw hats with some ribbon on it to hold it on helps keep the sun out of her eyes. Yes, my family wonders about me sometimes!

LOL Liz,
We are a strange family! But you didn't do the toilet seat cover challenge with me! :nc: So does that make me stranger than you! LOL :whacky: I was thinking animal print for my goose! LOL Now that would get some attention as they drive by! LOL :bluewink:

Yes, that works. That is how my goose is dressed for winter. You will see mine this coming weekend. Are you bringing your goose along too? :bg:

I know I didn't do the Toilet Seat decorating contest. As you know, I have a very UGLY bathroom and we are hopefully going to get it redone this spring. I don't think a toilet seat cover would have helped it. :bluesad:
