I treated myself and went for a wee drive to a sewing machine shop which stocks several brands today. It was like being in a lolly shop only not so fattening. I saw the Janome 100 coverstitch machine - I want one NOW!!!! and I am the one who lectures my kids about want v need I feel a discussion with DH coming up about this and how I can fiddle with our household budget to get one. I originally thought that I would just get a coverstitch serger but I like the free arm feature on the Janome. I think I will go back next week with fabric samples to trial it Skye |

Skye, I know that Janome has 2 new covertitch models. One of them does not do the triple seam coverhem and the other does. Does your dealer have both models? I was wondering about comparing the two and also the prices of each. I not not in the market for one because I have a coverlock that I love. I just like to keep up with the different new models because so many ask about them on different sewing forums and I know that Janome makes good machines..I own several of their products. |

Went back to the sewing machine shop yesterday armed with my samples from very fine knits to denim, also lycra with elastic attached since I make my own swimwear. I had a lot of fun - the sales people were nice so the Janome cover Pro 1000 followed me home. It has the triple needle capacity and wasn't that much more expensive than the 900 model (2 needles only) The frustrating thing is that I am away at a conference for most of this week so I wont get to play until the weekend. On the cost I think that it was a reasonable cost $799NZ which is about $500US It is very easy to thread ie got it right first try I love the needle threading gizmo that comes with the accessory kit. Basically it is 3 needle threads on the top and a very accessible lower looper down below nothing too fiddly. I am going to use it some before I look at any accessories like the fabric guide etc Well better get back to what they pay me to do Skye |
