I have to say I love the idea of one of these each month as per MyGirlFriday's post today. Even if I never get anywhere it's fun to check words off the list.
Some suggestions for possible themes:
Crafts
Notions
Brand names
Fabric types
Sewing books
What ideas does everyone else have?

I think I am going to join the next month - sounds like fun! Kind of reminds me of The Ottawa Sun with their games - I forgot the name but it's kinda like bingo ... I miss their newspapers (so easy to read - small).

Is there any fees for joining the games and such (to help pay for the prizes, etc) or what ...

This is fun - I am checking off other names that goes off daily.

An idea of theme could be website stores / local stores (and include city/state in case someone goes on vacation and could check out some stores, etc...)

I was thinking, if we are going to play bingo every month. (I love it). Maybe we could take turns buying the prize, mail it to the person that is doing the drawings so it isn't just one person paying for everything. Does this make sense?

I'd rather we keep with a sewing bingo. Maybe even include parts of a machine or serger. I don't know all the parts so might get lost there but there is so much that's related to sewing to choose from. As for as buying the gifts, that's ok with me or we could set an amount money to send to whoever is buying them that month. The amount could depend on how many signed up that month. Or at least if we buy a product set a limit on what to spend. That way it would be fair to everyone. Just some ideas. I don't think it's fair that one person has to buy all the time so we all can have fun playing.

Good point Beach ... I am wondering if the person who's buying the prizes has the most fun shopping for the "perfect" gift! :)

Also, naming the parts of a sewing machine is a cool idea ... could get us to really learn the parts of the machine - kinda like a guy knowing each part of a computer, tv, DVD, (heaven forbid - an appliance) or a car or whatever their favourite hobby is.

I am excited to start for March - I wish March would come! :)

I'm in for however anyone want so to do it. I like the idea of different themes as many of us do hobbies other than sewing/quilting but whatever. am willing to shop and/or provide $$ toward prizes.

Wow ~
Y'all have come up with all kinds of ideas.....
in keeping with sewing we could do names of parts of your sewing machine...but remember we need at least 5 words a day for each day in the month(Monday - Friday) so lets see.....that would be 115 words for March.
I think if we had a different person volunteer to be the "Prize Patrol" that would be good. I would think that by the time postage for mailing this months prize to whoever wins it will be about $12.00 US. Cheap fun in my opinion. If someone else wants to draw the words that is fine too. I just thought this would be a fun way to get people involved and checking the site every day. Maybe more folks will get involved in the next round. I like the ideas so far....keep them coming!

I would love to participate in the game I think for a first timer I would like to play then maybe the next month or so I can be the drawer (pickin names etc) - whatever ... it'd be fun!

Bearing in mind our international arena, brand names/shops etc would be hard to fathom, but perfectly easy to pick them off a list and tick them off. I think using the game to get to know the names of bits of your serger/machine is a cheats way to find out how it's put together. We do it at school all the time! Go for it! Playing is a classic way to learn - you remember more if you are having fun.

I too like the idea that the winner antes up the next prize! $12 thats about £8 or 2 fat quarters....

Sounds like fun. I know I check everyday for my words. You can count me in on future ones too. I'm sure we can come up with all kinds of themes and words. Fabrics, sewing, quilting, kids names, cities, states, etc.
Will keep watching!!!!

Ok~ :bg:
I take it that y'all want to do this again~right??
If so..... we need to select a topic for our selected words. I was thinking QUILTING (I have a huge book that I could probably find enough words.....we need 115)~but that is up to y'all! If you have a better idea please post it. We can discuss it. We just need to do it quick.
I would like to be able to post the words by say February 24 or 25 so people can get the words list to me by Tuesday March 1st.
Does anyone want to provide the PRIZE for month??

just let me know ASAP! :bolt:

Do you want to keep doing the words or would you rather the winner of February do them along with the prize?

If you want to do the words and everyone else agrees, I think the winner should do the next month prize. But if that isn't ok with everyone, I will do the prize.

I agree with the above message! I think it's fun to have the winner to do the next month's drawing/prize ...

Before I forget ... when you are doing the bingo ... do you have a "bingo" card that you put in all the 25 words etc or just the first person to get all 25 words they chose?

I am just so excited about this!!! This will be fun!

I better get back to work ... :bolt:

There will be a list of 100 words posted. You chose 25 and e-mail them to the person who does the drawing. Monday thru Friday there will be 5 words posted. You check your list. The first one to get all 25 and post BINGO wins.

Oh ... that's so easy ... wasn't sure if the "BINGO" chart also applies ... so it's just gotta hope the person drawing draws ALL of your words! Only 7 more days till March 1!!!

Hogmami~

was that a hint that you are going to win??
If you want to do the words and everyone else agrees, I think the winner should do the next month prize. But if that isn't ok with everyone, I will do the prize.LOL~

I don't mind doing the words another month if that is ok~Hogmami, you can get the prize for the March.
Were we going to go with QUILTING??
Just wondering~
Let me know I will check back later to see if we have a big winner yet~

I doubt if I will win. I don't win at these kind of games, just have fun. Its find with me to get the prize unless the winner (if we get one) wants to do it.

I think quilting is a good topic. Also agree, perhaps winner should buy the next month's prize but whatever anyone wants to do. I'll take a turn at buying too.

I was just thinking ... I know we don't have an expensive gift ... but I don't know if we should talk or think about donating some $ like $5 a month for a game of bingo to help defray the costs of the prizes and postage? I don't know if it is a big deal or whatever but I'd be happy to throw in a "donation" or something.

I have to say I don't like the idea of everyone giving some money towards prize/postage each month, it tends to be difficult for those of us who are overseas. I prefer the idea of the previous month's winner providing the prize. Maybe if it's someone overseas they could look for something unique to their country in the way of sewing stuff/fabric. Even in the states I would imagine there is some fabric unique to each state, or we may all have what we consider the perfect notion!

If the BINGO WINNER wants to supply the March prize that will be great! If not Hogmami you can do it~

I have been slowly working on the words. I came home from work today after going to the Dr.~seems I have the dreaded flu! I will continue to work on those and try to post the words tomorrow sometime. That will give everyone about 5 days to get their BINGO list to me.

I will do this next month just like I did February...only better.

Watch for the Posting for March!
