I've been assigned bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy. I've gone into false labor twice now in three days, both times having to go to the hospital to stop it (which is really not fun). So, they're hoping that with bed rest and the annoying medication I have to take that they will stay in there for the next month. :bang:
So, I'll be needing lots of prayers that I don't go nuts for this month of imposed exile (and this would come just as my brand new Ready to Sew Bernina store is starting up all sorts of fun lessons.... :monkey: .).
Oh well, at least this will help to keep the boys healthy and incubating longer as my Mom keeps reminding me.

It is more important to take care of yourself and the boys. There will always be lessons. I will be wishing you best of lluck. You can always read in bed. My prayers are with you.

Been there done that. It is well worth the frustration. I had two weeks in the hospital and if it weren't for my laptop and the ladies here I would have gone insane.
What week are they trying to get you to? I made it to 35wks. with my last one. I have had a lot of experience with bedrest and premature babies. All of my babies were early. This is one area where I can honestly say I have wisdom.

My daughter was on bed rest with both of my grandchildren. It was frustrating and hard work for everyone involved especially with the second one because there was still number one to care for. But we did it and let me tell you...........the end result both times was worth every minute. They were really afraid that the youngest would end up being way early and he was full term. He is two now and very healthy and active.

The entire family on both sides feel we are invested in these two even more because we helped get them here safely. I hope you have family there to help and support you.

Hang in there, drool over the latest quilt magazines and just think of the wonderful thing that is happening!!

Will thinking of you,

Norma

They have two different goals, they're ideal time is 36 weeks, because then lung development should be under way. But, they'll be satisfied with 34 weeks, before then the babies would have to be transferred to the super fancy neonatal unit downtown. After 34 weeks, my hospital would be able to care for them. So, I'm taking a pill every 4 hours to try and keep the contractions from restarting. Speaking of which, I need to go take one now.

ticia,

Good luck! I'll keep you in my prayers. Find some hand quilting to do and enjoy the "enforced" time off! Know it's hard but it will be well worth it all in the end!

Happy Thoughts,
Lyn

I too had to be on bed rest & was in & out of the hospital with mine. Not the last one though. My twins were early & had to stay longer than I did. I was in for 3 weeks after their birth & they stayed 15 days longer. When I took them home it was on the condition that no one could go into their room for 3 months but me. I had a 2 year old also. Talk about having cabin fever!!! Was so well worth it though. I hope you like to read, do scrap booking, hand sewing or something you can do in bed. It still drives you nuts but helps some. Good luck & you & the little ones are in my prayers too. Twins are so much fun. All babies are for that matter. We wanted triplets the last time but only got the one. So I baby sat with one my twins age after we all got ok.

The goals for 34 weeks are the same as they had for our little guy.
Mom and Dad met with the neonatal team and were prepared..........so she laid on my couch and we prayed a lot.

He is alseep on my lap as I type so the prayers were answered...............

Ticia, keep those little guys safe at all costs.

Do lots of crossword puzzles, hand sewing and talking on the phone. Maybe rent yourself a laptop after a while to come and visit. :bg:

Seriously, teach yourself to smock or as Gina did. Make a million yo yo's for a quilt later. Buy yourself some soft cover novels and enjoy the peace and quiet. It will be so noisy and hectic in a while you won't believe it!

I fully understand your feelings. I was taken off work 2 months before the twins' due date. It didn't really matter that my blood pressure was heading up over the moon because they were pressing against my spine and I had no feeling or control in my legs most of the time so I couldn't walk. I threw up constantly, often waking in the middle of the night just for the pleasure. If I could walk at all, I used a cane, the rest of the time I was in a wheel chair. It was so miserable that the doctor's office had a pool on when the doctor was going to induce. When I would walk down the hall, all the nurses and staff would come out of their offices to hear the verdict...he'd say "another day, another ounce..." and send me home. He even hospitalized me for 24 hours to see it it was necessary to induce. In the end, I was so tired that even I was begging. The last Wed. I went in I told him that I was having these kids in the next 24 hours and that falls in the middle of your t-off time...so if you don't start things, I'll see you tomorrow. Well, the next day I went into labor I wasn't even sure that I was...it was just a tiny little flutter at my back left side..but it was regular..so I called. That evening I delivered 2 beautiful babies, a boy and a girl at 6 lb 14 oz (boy) and 5 lb 11 oz (girl) only 3 min apart. The delivery was easy and the kids were Apgar of 9 each. Neither had a second in neonate...and they were right on target at 38 weeks! I had been so depressed when I stayed in bed...felt like a beached whale...(no laptops at that time)...let me tell you the pay off was well worth it. I wish I had a nickle for everytime I was stopped in the mall and asked by parents how long my kids were in neonate...that is so common. I was very lucky and I hope that you are too! GOOD LUCK!

Hopefully I can get this out before it messes up again.
We had another brief hospital stay on Valentine's Day, for high blood pressure, tehy monitored us and then decided that I was fine and the babies were fine. They said I need to make sure to lie on my side more. I just blame it on all that hard work of riding the elevator and wlaking to the doctors.
Okay, I"m going to go before it messes up again. I'll hopefully be able to post more later.
