This Swap is now CLOSED.

Same rules as always here – you cannot participate if you have not participated successfully in past swaps (fq, scavenger or other swap). I will need you to email me (<email address removed for privacy>) your username, real name, mailing address & telephone number (will not be shared, only for emergencies). If you haven't participated in a past scavenger hunt, please let me know what swaps you have participated in so I may confirm with hostess.

These rules may seem strict, but based on past experiences, the board has decided to set participation rules. Before committing to this swap, please carefully consider if you will be able to fulfill the swap. If you do need to drop out of the swap or will be late, please contact me immediately. If you do not fulfill your obligation to this swap after committing, you will not be permitted to join future swaps of this type.

Ten individual items, try to keep your spending at about the $15 (USD) mark (PLUS postage costs).

Remember, should you have any questions/concerns, please let me know at any time. Once pairings are made, please please PLEASE be in contact with your swap partner frequently (at least once a week) throughout the swap. We have found that those who have not kept in touch are the ones that end up with problems at the end of the swap.

Pairings will be made February 23, 2005 - mail-by date March 12, 2005. Please be sure to stay in touch with your partner during this time to help ensure a successful swap. If you will be late mailing, please contact me as well as your partner.

Quilting/Sewing Themed Scavenger Hunt List

1. thimble (collectible or not, find out what your partner likes/might use)

2. something found near a sewing machine

5. Word "quilt" or "sew" on an item

6. Fat quarter of sewing/quilting themed fabric

7. something quilty or sewing related that you have made

8. thread –find out what kind your partner could use (is she a hand quilter? Machine quilter? Embroidery? Favorite brand?)

9. one of your favorite notions

10. make or buy a pin cushion

Does this mean I can't join in on this one??? :nc:

I have been sick now going on 2 weeks.....I will have to Lysol all of your stuff for sure!!
I haven't been doing any shopping, but I promise it isn't because I don't want to. Between the flu, a sinus infection and now horrible cough fits I haven't been out and about. Maybe this weekend!

I received your package today! All I can say is WOW!!!
My daughters met me in the driveway with your package....they were excited and were clueless as to what it was or who it was from!
I open your package and everything was labeled. I just dug in!
All of the goodies are super nice!
The quilt pattern is cute...snowmen!
I love the Sew What's New cookbook~this will be nice, because I'm not much into cooking! But there are lots of good sounding yummies to fix!
But the very best item was the quilted jacket!! It brought tears to my eyes!! I have been wanting one of these for a long time and what a shock it was to recieve a special one from someone that doesn't even know me!!
I will try to post a photo here....
quilted jacket (http://community.webshots.com/photo/288600517/288606776HNeKUr)
I can't wait to show it off!!
Thanks so very much!!

We must be thinking the same thing -- I ordered something too that was too cute to pass up and I'm also hoping it comes by the end of the week. Well, if we're both a little late at least we can blame the post office instead of ourselves! :bluewink:

LYN< What a perfect day to have my package arrive. It was one of my worst days at work, and to my suprise on this snowy day lo and behold!!!
Here is a list of my goodies,,,a thimble from Arizona,,,what a neat idea
my favorite pins, my favorite red licorice and my favorite mint hot chocolate...yummy The angel quilt pattern was wonderful, the tags great too,
Loved the fat quarter, and the homemade needle holder(hoping you might share that pattern) hint hint....Thread is always appreciated, and my favorite chalk marker in white, perfect for marking my daughters black quilt squares... The pin cushion was terrific. IF you notice, it seems Lyn that we were on the same wave length on some of our choices...I had loads of fun with this swap and thanks so much to Shari for organizing once again. Thank you LYN :bg: :bg:

I received my package today from Julie. It's fabulous!

1. thimble--Gorgeous Maryland thimble with a crab on top

2. something found near a sewing machine--lint brush--can definitely use that!

3. snack--potato chips with crab seasoning--I've already eaten half the bag!! I think you might need to send me a stipend of a bag a week!!!

4. quilt pattern--Miniature Quilt Ideas magazine--fantastic

5. Word "quilt" on an item--quilting between needles

6. Fat quarter of sewing/quilting themed fabric--pretty yellow print

7. something sewing related that you have made--a cute needle case

8. thread--a fantastic box of 25 DMC skeins of floss--love them!

9. one of your favorite notions--thread snips--very handy

10. pin cushion--a cute jelly jar filled with little goodies with a pin cushion on top

Thank you so much for everything! I love it! :bg:

Hi Shari -

My box came today and it was so much fun. My 11 year old was just as excited as me, you see, she helped me make up your box. I love everything! I'm looking forward to the kids going to bed tonight so I can sit with my soda (that I can have all to myself, which rarely happens) and page through the notions book.

Thank you so much. You should be getting your box any day. It didn't go out until Tuesday morning as I was not feeling well Monday and didn't go out. So, you should have it soon! Have fun in Florida  ! Wish I was going -- but we are finally having some nice spring weather here. Thanks again!

My package from CarolWI arrived today!

I love everything! There was a handmade eyelash yarn scarf which is soo cute, a hand basket shaped pin cushion, and a wooden thimble which was also handmade. There was a bodkin as the favorite notion, which I didn't have yet!

Two Quilt Pattern books, which have me dreaming of future endeavors in the sewing room, and I am going to have to think of something creative to do with the UFO quilt squares found near Carol's sewing machine. Also near Carol's sewing machine were a lovely scented candle and devotional booklet which will help me when I am not feeling as thankful or centered as I should.

There was a great blue with gold stars fat quarter along with beautiful gold thread, and a cute little hand made kitty and bunny made from fat quarters (I think). To top it all off something I can't wait to try; a "chocolate cow pie and a vanilla chewy cow tail" they look so yummy!

Carol you ROCK!

TWO things:

1. Peggy - I got your package! It's sitting on the kitchen counter. We've gone one more full day before we leave for vacation and it's a busy day tomorrow. Finished packing the kids tonight, and I'm tired. I'm going to bed but I wanted to let you know it's here. I'll hopefully get it opened before I leave!

2. Everyone - I'll be gone til Easter Sunday! If you have any questions/concerns, post on the board and I'm sure someone can help you!

Shari,

I was just wondering if you ever looked through your package? You mentioned you received it right before you were leaving on vacation, but I haven't heard anything since. I just wanted to check in with you.

OH, no! I'm so sorry to leave you hanging Peggy! Yes, I did open the package and I love everything! My hubby even has his eyes on my new scissors! What did you put inside of that pin cushion? It feels "funny"! Did you spend too much? All that thread and the video and book and pattern...thank you for everything! Oh, and the m&m's are in my desk drawer at work (as I haven't been doing any quilting this week!).

Thank you so much!
Hugs,
Shari

Shari-

Quite alright -- I was just beginning to get worried, since it had been so long since I've been in a swap I thought maybe I messed something up.

Trust me, I don't think I went over the limit (I'm a notorious sale shopper), if I did, not by much :bluewink: . The book & video I got free with some other book I purchased and I have another set already. Let me know if your hubby "steals" the scissors, I'll send another pair, my hubby brings home several a month for me  .

OK, the pincushion has steel wool pads in it! I read somewhere to use steel wool pads with soap to help keep the pins sharp and clean. I don't know if it will work, but it made sense.

Glad you like it all. This was a really fun swap to do. Hope I can be in on another one.
