I have decided to make my bedroom all in black with spashes of color. I want to make a quilt to hang behind my headboard. I want it to be mostly black with spashes of very colorful material. I want the color to really leap out at you. My problems is I can't find a pattern that will do this. Can anyone help me?
Thanks for your help!

Hi labianchi, welcome to Sew Whats New.

I recently bought fabric from www.equilter.com from the Laurel Burch collection. It is extremely colourful with black backgrounds.

I guess I wasn't real clear. I want to use mostly black fabric. I want a pattern that will look good in black with using different splashy colors in the pattern that makes the splashy colors stick out. Maybe like an amish quilt pattern? I just need to find the pattern. I have the material already. Does that make sense?
Thanks!

I did a table runner for my mom with a deep black background in the churn dash pattern: http://www.quilterscache.com/A_C/ChurnDashBlock.html

Where they have the light pink I had black, and where they have the brick fabric I used the jewel tones of fairy frost fabrics: http://www.quiltknit.com/fabrics/fairy_frost_fabric_2.htm

If you put your blocks on point it might look nice too.

www.meandmysisterdesigns.com

I think any and all of their designs would look great in black and brights.

My first thought is Amish quilts - but that might not go well with the rest of your decor...

any of the following might be cool:

If you go to www.quilterscache.com and go to the Tiny Store, she has a pattern called Oklahoma Twister that is in black with lots of colors..............

also on the quilterscache site look at the laced star pattern that could jump out at you.

Mary, are you using the Laurl Burch for applique or piecing?? My honey loves that womans work and she has been beating on me to use some of her material in a quilt. Just can't decide which is the best way to go. I saw the article in Quilters Newletter about her. It was interesting.
