Mary mentioned using a pot holder for scissors.
Potholders make the perfect case for scissors or rotary cutter. Fold in half and stitch up the bottom and one side. Hang by the loop and they are safe and sound from little fingers.

I have a slightly different way to use them, sent to my by a friend, and I wanted to share it as I think this works better. I am going to try to upload the photo.

Hmm. doesn't work. OK, have uploaded to a photosite and here is the link

PS. the add a link feature and add a photo feature don't work. They used to, but I can't get them to work now. :nc:

Some time ago, I sent Mary a craft idea to be published on the website for a Scissors Holder.. you can make 2 from 2 felt squares.. (to get the color pattern right , you need 2) I think with all the problems with hackers, and the yanking of the servers and other problems lately, she has forgotten about it.. I did not want to bug her with questions, but now that this has come up, maybe this would be a good time to ask if it could be done ?? Mine was a cute shape that had a poem to go with it..Mary, do you still have that info I sent you ??

I have made the ones from pot holders. They are so easy. I did a little sewing basket for my daughter and daughter in law for Christmas and put them iin there with some scissors. They don't sew. Just some mending and sewing on buttons.

After seeing Mary's post and this one, they have given me an idea (like I need another). I have been making mug mats to practice machine quilting so this is another "good thing" to practice on. I will make my potholders using machine quilting and/or embroidery and then turn them into scissor holders. If they are a success, someone will get a gift.

If not.....just keep on practicing.

Another idea is, if you have any left over quilt blocks, put a piece of batting and backing on it and quilt, than put some binding on the edges, sew into the cone shape and there you go. One way of using up left over blocks.

Carolyn, that is a great idea which leads me to another. I have a lot of strips that I can sew together and make 9 patch blocks and binding. Then (in the words of Paul Harvey)......on with the rest of the story. :bluewink: An added bonus being, the box gets cleaned out.

Nice how you can bounce things back and forth and keep coming up with more creations. I really like this place.
