The alphasew 10 spool thread holder came with my brother 6500 today, along with all the other supplies I ordered. I never ordered it and when I wrote to tell them they made a mistake by sending it they told me to just keep it. The directions to put it together were so blurry I had to wing it but I think I did pretty good but it is confusing to me. I wonder how to use it. Thread the thread through the holes above and then into the machine I suppose. But the directions speak of putting the lubricant on the thread holder sponge and no lubricant came in the box so I am really in the dark here. Any help would be so appreciated. It goes for 50.00 so it was a nice gift that they told me to keep. Ria Ria

Is this for a serger or an embroidery machine? If it is for an embroidery machine, Ria, they are talking about thread lubricant. That's why they tell you to put it on the sponge. That way, your thread runs over the sponge and picks up the lubricant. The thread lubricant helps the thread feed through the needle without fraying or breaking. Patsy Patsy

Thank Patsy, it is for an embroidery machine. The thing is now I have to find the lubricant as it wasn't included in the pkg. I wonder what kind of lubricant it is, I will have one heck of a time finding it. Thanks for the info. Ria Ria

I use All Purpose Sewers Aid. I got it at a quilt shop. I use it with my embroidery machine thread.

Thanks so much for that info. Now some ladies told me to not use any lubricant unless I am using metallic thread. I appreciate the replies. Ria Ria

I have used it on all kinds of thread. The lady that got me started on it told me to put a drop on the thread in a couple of spots and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Has worked good on Metallic thread.

I hear they are very easy to make if you have the tools to do so. All you need is a saw and drill. I plan to make one when the weather turns a little warmer. I have only heard good things about them. Barbara |

Thanks Susie! If you decide to buy an embroidery machine I'll make you a thread holder also. I just sent an email to my dad who loves to build things with pictures of several of them i am hoping that he will be able to build one of these along with several of the wooden thread holders for me....if not then i might have to find out how much you charge to make them for me..... Well Jada, if you be a good girl I might just make you one this spring when I can get out in the garage and not freeze! I was thinking of making one with at least 5 spool holders on it. Does that sound good? I need to come up with a bright idea for spool caps also! We need something to keep the thread from getting tangled. Any bright ideas on how we could do that? Barbara |
