Help!! How do I sew pleating around a corner (of a square pillow/cushion) and still have it look like pleating and not gathering? I need to do one with knife pleating (1") and one with box pleating (3") the knife pleating has me frustrated so the box pleat will be a nightmare!!

Hope some of you knowledgable ladies can help me out......please.....I'm desperate!!

Hi Shukran99, welcome to Sew Whats New.

Hmm, sounds like you have a really frustrating chore to do. I have knife pleated around a Christmas stocking so I know a little bit of the frustration. In all my books I cannot find one pillow with pleating around the corners. Maybe that means it cannot be successfully done.

I think the knife pleating should work though. Are you pleating as you sew or pre-pleating the fabric and applying?

I know this site is for clothing, but, maybe it will give you an idea to work it into your pillow.

When I do a pleated flange on pillows, I make the pleats a bit tighter in the corners, sorta overlap the pleats. With the takeup in the corner, the pleat will open up to the same size as the normal pleats and will curve around the corners. Hope this makes sense to you!
