While, I have been patiently waiting for the March Block, I started an Attic Windows Block, with my daughters wedding pictures from Red Canyon in Nevada. I finally found a technique for the mitered corners that is working for me. They had a show today on Simply Quilts, all about the Attic Block! It was very helpful, so I have put three of them together this afternoon. They also include the sashing. My question is, I'm going to make this a wall-hanging quilt, but I was thinking ahead, and wondering how should I quilt this? I want to do it on my old White standard sewing machine. No fancy stitches. Would in the ditch look good? Any ideas? Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

Never made an attic window, I would imagine in the ditch would be fine.....what I want to know is the easy way to do mitered corners, lol!!!!!!!!!!!! I just finished a quilt and did my first mitered corners, even made my own binding for the first time....but those corners almost killed me. There HAS to be a better way. Here is the link to the three methods that they had on the show. I'm doing the first one,Susan Cleveland's method. http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/shows_qlt/article/0,1805,HGTV_3876_2974423,00.html The other one that I was trying uses HST in the corner. It was okay, but I like the above method better. Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

I checked out that tip for built in sashes on Simply Quilts. It looks like a good one. I'm not working on anything now that requires it, but have copied and saved it for future projects. Thanks. |
