I found the nicest cotton print. I thought I would like to use it on some sort of shirt/t-shirt combo for my 3 boy grandkids. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to design something cute? :Canada:

check out the catalogues and duplicate what you like. There must be some sites on line as well that you could check out, how about the pattern companies on line. Vests, shirts, t-shirts, jackets, shorts ? I'm just in the process of doing some adult vests with cotton and denium. They look pretty sharp, wish I had a camera. When my GS was smaller I use to make him pull on pants with contrast turn-up cuffs, also t-shirts with the turn-up cuff. Hope this gives you some ideas.
Just remember to add seam allowances and hatch marks when you re-vamp your pattern and you'll be sewing up a storm.

good idea Woodyw...

Just today I saw something cute at a quilt store. The person had added striped pcs of children's prints on to hand made sweater with matching colours. Got me going with some ideas...

I think I will do a sweatshirt type thing. The boys will love it!

Thanks for the suggestions.

When my kids were younger (the youngest is now 17), there was a fad going around where people took sweatshirts and t-shirts and added a simple gathered fabric skirt to the bottom. They were quite cute. You just decided how long you wanted it, measured the bottom of the garment and gathered the skirt on...you just needed to make sure that when you used a sweat shirt it would still stretch at the bottom so you did it a bit like sewn-on elastic.

You could use the print for pockets.
