Does anyone have any ideas about what I should use inside the brim of a baseball cap? I suspect it would have to be somewhat waterproof. but be able to shape into a curve. sewhappy

A woman once told me she uses buckram. You can get it at the fabric store I'm sure. I've used it in purses and it holds up well. Dorothy |

Please don't laugh. I've known people to cut their shape from gallon milk, vinegar, and clorox bottles. I doubt that many pattern companies would suggest that. I think that the buckram is probably the most common.

I think the plastic might be a good idea. Dorothy |

I think the plastic might be a good idea. Dorothy If you want to use plastic, you might try the plastic canvas for cross-stitch projects. |

There is a stiff interfacing that you can purchase that is used for brims on hats. It is called Timtex. I have used it for making fabric bowls. It is pricey and hard to find in stores here where I live in the USA. Here is a link to an online store that has a description of it. http://www.loveandstitchesdesigns.com/timtex.htm Happy sewing/quilting/crafting

Buckram is stiffened with starch isn't it? I wonder about the waterproofness of it - anybody know? ( I have just used some making a french hood)

I think that it might hold up to a little bit of dampness just fine, but I know that it won't hold up to a good soaking.
