This lady gave me advice on how to make the french hood for my daughters tudor costume. She works at the tower of London and does some amazing work. She has just finished these. http://www.ninyamikhaila.com/Princesselizabeth.html http://www.ninyamikhaila.com/PrinceEdward.html stop by and gawp! remember tudor boys wore farthingale and kirtle until they were 6! Can you imagine a modern 6 year old putting up with that! love and kisses, Jan

But they used to wear all that underwear and then the garments no matter what the weather - Katie has slogged along with corsetry, shifts, farthingale forepart, overdress and headwear in 20 degrees and it is made out of heavy brocade and thick velvet! Or were you just thinking how fun to see them walking down the street? If you go here http://www.resmiranda.co.uk/Recent%20Events.html and scroll down to celebrating victory you can see my girlie in the gear I made second from the left. love and kisses, Jan

Jan, you did beautiful work! Your DD looks beautiful. Congratulations to both of you! Where will the dress go now? It should be on exhibit. Think of that being made by hand!! MariLynntx

Thanks all, the dress sits in my wardrobe while she is at uni - during the holidays she goes to reenactment fairs and such and performs /lives out the tudor lifestyle for the paying public. Her boyfriend is the gentleman in the red and black doublet. The dress has an alternate pair of sleeves(big bell shaped in the rose velvet with a turnback ciff in the gold brocade) and a different placket to put on th efront (more square shaped) we have two other hats as well. I took the lot to school last week s the year 6's ( age 10) were doing a special tudor week and took a class dressing up on of the girls - I have become quite fascinated with the construction of the clothing of the period. For a first dress it's not bad but I know there are some terrible errors in there! love and kisses, Jan
