I began my blouse today from Loes Hinse. Here is the style. http://www.timmelfabrics.com/hinseitalianblouse.jpg I love the style. There is not one bit of interfacing anywhere in this blouse. I was surprised. I have the collar on and fronts complete. I just have to put in the sleeves and buttonholes. These patterns use 3/8" seam allowance which is a little different. Hems are only 3/8" as well. The instructions were quite scant. I am going to make this again, but with french seams, interfacing and I think I will be a lot happier with the finished product. I'll have to cut everything just a touch bigger. I made it from a nice, soft rayon for spring and summer. Blue with some deep dark purple and gold thru it. MaryW

Hi Mary, Have you made Loes Hinse # 5001 European pants? I'm short and carry my extra weight around the middle and have been looking for a really good pants pattern for a long time. KayTee |

No, haven't tried those but I did just buy the Soho Pant from Textile Studios. I am dying to make them up. Elastic waist but you would never know it.

Just perfected the Soho pants fit. You're right, Mary. The best of the elastic-waist and the non-elastic worlds. I'm going to iron this one to interfacing (good use of fusible) bec I plan to make a ton of them. Good luck with yours, nancy |

I am cutting thepants out today hopefully. They are a royal blue and will go with my new blouse. The blouse turned out nicely. I made it from a batik rayon. I took a picture but it just doesn't show up that well with a print fabric. I will try this pattern again but I will put interfacing behind the buttonholes. Rayon is so soft. This pattern glosses over a lot of the details so a beginner would not learn from it. I love the style, but I will do it in french seams next time. Someone told me these patterns were for throw away clothes. No interfacings and narrow seam allowances. They might be correct. MaryW

You can always widen seam allowances and add interfacing to bring the garment up to your standards. I would definitely use French or flat fell seams with the batik rayon to reduce stress on the seams and interface it too -- of course it's to late for that now, but next time. Dorothy |

I just love her Barcelona dress! I have made it up several times. It calls for finsihing the neckline by turning under and stitching. I have had a couple of dresses for some time and have laundered them several times with no apparent damage. These dresses hang nicely without any stiff interfacings. I was skeptical at first also. It is my hands down favorite dress of all time! It is less constructed than most sewers are used to. Maybe that is why someone has chosen to label them a garment that will not last. I would not throw away my dresses for anything! |

Hi tuesday and welcome to Sew Whats New. I love her styles, I have a couple of jackets to make as well for this summer. Very soft and uncomplicated. Perfect to go over casual stuff. MaryW
