I made a kind of cute baby quilt, and it's a fake chenille/rag quilt. I want to show you what I did, but the pic directions are kind of vague, SO I am going to try this, I use it on Livejournal. Hope it works, otherwise, can someone help me out? |

Very cute! You did a nice job on that! I haven't worked with the chenille before, is it hard? Do you have directions for this quilt you could share? Thanks.

So I asked my DH to pick some fabric, it's a friend of ours that had the baby. A girl. Haven't seen her yet. So he got some blue fabric with elephants for the back. Then some pink flannel. I got some blue, purple and yellow flannel. I decided to make each block different colors. Picked a pattern to sew on it. Then I sewed the pattern, sewed another line 3/16th *ish* next to it, and in some places next to that one too. Then I slashed the fabric between the sewed lines. And washed it to fluff up the ragged edges. It looks pretty good, I'll post another picture of the fluffed up edges. So I'll let you see how it looks. It was pretty easy, my mom has been making rag edge bags for her friends. Joan |

Very nice Jobeth , I made a ragged edge quilt myself once but I only made it in squares. I love it. Good Job.
There's no such thing as stupid mistakes...it's only stupid if it's repeated.

Thanks for the information Joan! Do you slash between the stitching lines before you put the backing on or after all of it is put together? So very cute!

I layered the fabrics in a good order, and for the rattle, cut out some of the pink to allow the yellow to show through. I sewed through all the layers, back and all, to give it some stability, and just cut through the top layers. HINDsight, I'd have put 1 more layer down to not cut through, because I was using my little fiskars when I couldn't use my slash rotary cutter, and it cut through the back in a few places. I simply sewed those together, before I washed it and it's fine! Nice easy, and very cute, but washing the first time is a MESS, DH thought he ruined the quilt, all those threads..... |
