I have just purchased an old janome from a strange old second hand store which didn't have the manual or the model number.
I started sewing and it was fine, then the needle broke and when i rethreaded the bobbin, the bobbin case now gets all caught up.
i don;t even know if I am threading the bobbin case properly.
can anyone tell me, when loading the bobbin into the case and threaded through, is the bobbon meant to go clockwise or anticlockwise?
and also, if anyone knows of somewhere i can access an old manual for a machine whose model i can;t seem to find printed anywhere?

Does the bobbin drop in horizontally or vertically?
I know when sewing on my Janome it gets it's knickers in a twist and make a right birds nest at the back if I don't take both threads to the back and hold onto them when I start to sew.

My Janome has the round clear plastic bobbins.. It just lays flat in the space made for it.. BUT-- the diagram on the clear cover shows the thread coming from the back left side of the bobbin and into the tension groove then it leads around toward the left and back out of the groove -- After I place the thread end in place , I put the cover back in place with the thread tail hanging out.. Then I lower and raise the needle while I hold the needle thread in my hand to pull the bobbin thread into place to start sewing.. Have you looked all over your machine to find the model number so that you can get another manual?? My manual specifies which way the bobbin thread has to feed, and then like I said the bobbin cover has the diagram drawn on it also.Oh, also, when I said left side there, I meant my left as I am facing the machine.. (wanted that to be clear) My machine is 12-15 years old.. I'm not quite sure..

This gentleman has been able to help me find items for my old machines, I found him listed here on this site months ago.

Threading bobbin cases..this is the way it goes..(usually ) LOL..if it is a metal case that goes in vertically, hold the case in the left hand with the opening facing to the right, hold the bobbin in the right hand with the thread going over the top.Like the thread is taking a dive away from you..:) Put the bobbin in the case, pull the thread around the slot to the opening and insert in machine. If the bobbin is a horizontal bobbin and lays on the top of the machine..lay it in so that the thread is going counter clock wise.
