This is an example of how one woman made a difference with her sewing.

This is an AWSOME story!
This lady is truly making a difference in people lives!

I think that it should be a persons goal to do 1 Random Act of Kindness per day. Last year I crocheted book marks and carried them in my purse and when I found someone that needed a pick me up I would give them one of the special book marks.
It was amazing how something that took 10 or 15 minutes to work up made people smile.

What a great idea to send these ladies fabric from your stash! Just think if we all sent them a yard or more.
Anyone up for a challenge!!!! Would you be willing to send some fabric??
Post here and we will do it!

If everyone does send fabric, it should be tagged it came from Sew What's New people. Then someone should contact the reporter and give her Mary's e-mail address. A story about us sending fabric could hit the wires and more people would send fabric or more programs might be organized if more people read about it.

Mary I hope this is ok! Just thought this was a great place for those who have extra fabric to donate it to a good cause.

What a great bunch of people!! This group is truly a blessing to me and now to others!!

hey Mary and girl friday.. consider yourselves each a "point of light" for taking the time to bring this to our attention and post the address... if even one person from here on the boards sends in some of their stash, YOU will have made a difference!!!

I'm going to go through my fabrics plus whatever other sewing notions & etc I have doubles of or no longer need & send to them. I wonder if any can read english as I might have some sewing books also. Was going to have a big garage sale but now the sewing stuff can go to a better cause. Yes, it will be from Sew whats new members. I also wish there was someting like that here. We have so many people that it would help out in their daily lives. Maybe I'll send this article onto the newspaper here & see if they might reprint it here.

In our town, the Catholic Charities organization works with the Hispanics quite a bit.. I donated a sewing machine to a widow who was left with 3 small children and no way to support herself and her children because she only knew how to sew and had no equipment.. They came and picked up the machine and thread ( I also donated 20 spools) and mailed me a note from the lady along with a translation of it to me later..

Wasn't it the cooperative extension that sponsored the program, Jada?
If so, they will have someone that speaks English around.
Every state has a university that sponsors the cooperative extensions. How active they are and what they offer probably differs from state to state and extension office to extension office. I think every county has to have an office. They are more active in rural areas.

Did anyone else send any fabric to these ladies and if so did you recieve any acknowlegement back? I sent some fabric from my stash and was thinking of sending some more but never heard a word from them about the first shipment.
