My live in housekeeper moved out finally on Friday and now i am converting her room into my sewing room.....I am so happy to first have her gone and second to get all my sewing materials out of the living room and into my own room.....a room with a lock on it....

I spent most of yesterday (except for attending my monthly embroidery club meeting) moving everything in...i spent most of last night unpacking all my fabric which has been in tubs under my sewing table. I now have room to stack it on shelves and hang on hangers so i can seeeeeeeee what i have....for instance for last months swap i was looking for John Deere fabric for Gina but could not find any would you know I have a yard of John Deere that forgot i had in the bottom of one of my tubs....

I have so much fabric i really need to get down to some serious sewing to use it all up......

well i am going to drink my coffee read the boards a little bit and head back over to my sewing room to finish putting things away when that is all done hubby has promised to move my computer into my room today then i will be all set up.....

How exciting!!
Sounds like you are getting things moved in and should be sewing in no time!!
Will you be painting and decorating the room as well?? I have seen a few cute patterns to coordinate your sewing room with machine covers, chair covers, file cabinet covers and stuff like that.

Let me know if you need that pattern number...I have it!

Jada--

That's so nice for you. It's wonderful to be able to spread out!

I lived in DC for about 2 years before I got married and moved back to Louisiana. I miss it sooo much, my husband and one year old are going back for a visit in a couple of weeks... I can't wait!

Both my daughters have moved out and have kids now. The smaller bedroom I made into a playroom for the grand kids. The larger one in my room is mine. I have a Library, and 2 shelves with clear plastice tubs all labled. I have a cuting table that spreads out to 6' and I have both my serger and sewing machine are on it I also have a air lifts. (office chair with wheels.) I take the machines off to lay out and cut out. I have a pc and a pc chair. I have a rolling cart for phone and fax machines. Walk-in closet with shelves and tubs for fabric and patternsss. I have a note book I keep out and write down a journal for my sewing projects. I keep a card file on fabric, projects and stitches with a sample of fabric and tips. I wish I had more time to sew. well Happy stitching Gail
Sewing and & Crafts fill my day...not to mention my sewing room, closets, dining room table, and family room! Happy Stitching Gail

Mary and wild....the bad outwayed the good after a while....I dont think i will ever do it again...althou 3 days without her and you can tell the difference...hubby is not cleaning the kitchen half as good as she did....

we were too different people and she was a shameless woman and non thinking person....therefore making it very difficult to live with...if i never had to speak to her or see her it could have worked out but that was not possible so it was time for us to move on in different directions....

I will take pics of my room when i get home...i dont have any pictures or cute stuff on the walls i just have my fabric and sewing areas all set up...

Jada~

here is the pattern number for a few items you might like for your sewing room~
McCalls 4274 and McCalls P381

I like the items that you can make with these patterns and I think they would look great in any sewing room! ( And hopefully one day my own sewing room)

Hey Jada,

I feel the same way Wild800 and Mary do, why in the world would anyone not want a live in maid!!!! I'd like to just have a part time maid. LOL Guess you have to "live there done that" sort of thing in order to know why you feel the way you do. Anyway, you are going to love that new sewing room of yours. Just lock the door when you are tired of sewing and walk out and when you come back it's all where you left off.

JulieS, what part of Louisiana do you live? I'm from New Orleans outlying area.

I've been trying to insert a picture of my new sewing room. All the kids are out. We have a small bedroom that got converted into an office with the computer. I am the only one now who uses the computer and does any office work, so this winter we designed and made a sewing, office, computer room. I love it. It is a big U shape. My sewing machine is by the window. Can look out when I am sewing. Office is to the end of one side and computer to the other. I figure I have fifteeen feet of sewing work space. Have drawers for everything and shelves. It's mine, all mine, and I love it. :bluesmile

I have a cleaning lady who comes in every other Friday. I love that woman, but I don't think I'd want her to live with me! Ditto for the guys my husband hired to show up every Tuesday to mow the lawn.
I recently allowed someone to take up temporary residence in my sewing room. I miss it sooo bad!! I am working on my master's degree while still working full time, so there's not much time for any serious sewing, but I feel like i've lost my "space."
I'm counting down the days till I get it back....
And, I'm on vacation from work and spring break from school this week. If I don't get to sew...someone's going to get hurt....

Posting on the boards Shelly was the first step in the right direction to starting to sew again. If I didn't check in every now and then I don't know how my week would go. These boards keep me in step with my sewing. I get all kinds of ideas from everyone here and the sisterhood is unreal. I've never felt the support or love any where else I've been that I get here. Thanks ladies you all are great!!!! Hugs Susie
